Paulzx Posted Sunday at 14:59 Share Posted Sunday at 14:59 I've had this issue with the fuse link last couple of times i've re-charged the battery or even jump started it - the fuse link on the battery terminal always blows. So this week I've seen that the newish battery appears to be dead. I used the car last weekend but fair enough, not used it at all during the week and now completely dead so probably needs a routine charge up. I could jump start the car, I've seen the guide on here and followed it last time, fuse link still blew. Then I was told by some guys on here to never jump start a 350z with leads. So what is the conventional wisdom at the moment - jump leads or remove battery and charge up? And if i do remove the battery and re-connect, is there a 100% method to do this without losing the fuse link? I'm sure you're all doing this without this issue? ZMANALEX Posted Sunday at 16:51 Share Posted Sunday at 16:51 Safe to charge the battery on the car or use jump leads if done "properly" If not done properly any surge or short may cause the fuse link to blow. Again, removing the battery for bench charge and refitting will cause no issues unless you mess up and short out. I have done the above hundreds of times on the 350s, 370s and GT-Rs without issues, but you have got to be diligent and careful. Good luck. Paulzx Posted Sunday at 20:04 Author Share Posted Sunday at 20:04 Yep i thought so! Can you explain in basic steps how you would remove the battery to charge it, then re-fit safely? Pretty sure every time I connect that second terminal there's a small spark and bang goes my fuse link

mr v6
Without stating the obvious, have you looked on Youtube as there's plenty of US videos that should help you out? It's quite straight forward. Only awkward bit is making sure you don't drop the J hook & it's nut down the back, other than it's just the plastic upper covers that need to come off 😁.

It's not so much removing it, I've done that many times.. and yes i did drop that nut down the back lol. It's re-connecting the charged battery is where i'm getting a problem. Positive terminal on first, negative second, should be all good to start up, but I think i may have been touching the terminals accidentally with something and it blows the fuse link. I know i do have a habit of putting the metal brace on last, but i'm going to do that first before i re-connect the terminals this time. I think i may have been putting the leads back on the battery first when i've done it in the past, and then accidentally arcing it somehow. I've bought two new fuse links in a row now, I can't keep buying these!!

Paulzx
Thanks Alex, but there's nothing in that google search that really explains why I'm getting this problem. Obviously something is happening that I'm not seeing or I'm unaware of. The battery is currently on charge. i will connect it back up shortly and see what happens
