Keith D Posted yesterday at 17:10 Share Posted yesterday at 17:10 (edited) I did a search, sorry if this has been discussed before. I've seen in a few places online suggesting the auto transmission is torque limited to around 400 Nm although I can't find anything concrete or referenceable. There is also a video on youtube from the states where the workshop fitted an infiniti Q50/60 transmission to a boosted 370z because of this. Has anyone fitted the Z1 supercharger kit on an auto, and what if any mods are necessary? Before anyone asks I have an auto because I'm 6 foot 4 and very few performance cars are designed with people like me in mind and allow leg and knee room for operating a clutch! Adrian@TORQEN
Hi Keith, I had the first ever RHD twin turbo 370z in the world back in 2014, which happened to be a 7AT. Unfortunately the UK tuner that did the mapping didn't have a clue on what he was doing and damaged my gearbox, while lying through his teeth. I had to rebuild it in USA by our partners at Level10 and also fitted an uprated torque convertor, did the valve body upgrade, all internals overhauled, making it capable of 700+ bhp. Going back to your build, with the right mapping on ECUTek you can safely run a supercharger or a GReddy Twin Turbo. There are so many guys in USA doing this with no major upgrades to the gearbox. We also have a customer here in UK with a TopGunz supercharger on his 370z, the only upgrade to his gearbox was this: https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/powertrain/transmission/67065-350z-z33-370z-z34-loj-conversions-billet-aluminum-flexplate-vq35hr-vq37vhr.html Hope this helps, let us know if you have further questions.
GranTurismoEra
Performance wise to go boosted. Auto all day. 295 ft lbs/400 nm seems low for VQ. Thats only 20 ft lbs above the Nismo. At 450-500hp 295,ft lbs does match. There are supercharged Zeds running that power. Although not sure what their torque is.
