NI 350z Owner
After many years of dreaming I’ve finally pulled the trigger on a 2007 350z. It’s low mileage and in good condition but needs a good bit of work. I’ve been quoted the following but I’m not a mechanic and could do with a little guidance. Here is what I was quoted: 2 x Front Brake pads £387 1 x o/s steering Track Rod £260 1 x o/s Track Rod End £184 1 x n/s Steering Rod £260 1 x n/s Track Rod End £216 1 x OSF Lower Arm Suspension £280 1 x NSF Lower Arm Suspension £280 Do these seems excessive or about right. This includes fitting and all labour and testing which I was previously was told was £108 per hour. Thoughts welcome. What should I go back to the garage and query.
heterofrogs1
Assuming those brake pads are OE, you can get them cheaper from torqen. I had a used steering rack installed a couple weeks ago along with new track rod ends and it came to ~£400. Are you doing the work at a dealership?
ZMANALEX
Sounds extremely expensive to me. Can you share the name of the garage and the part numbers of the parts and also if they are Genuine Nissan OEM?
Ekona
My local garage charges £60p/h (large town in Suffolk), not sure where you are in the world but that seems pricey for labour charges.
Andy_Muxlow
Hi and welcome along buddy. Get another quote and compare prices would be my suggestion.
glrnet
I’m with Alex, that’s nearing “pull your pants down” time. Walk away, get at least 2 other quotes. Research locally, perhaps try a social media site such as Nextdoor and ask for mechanic/garage recommendations. Make sure you specify recommendations from personal experience, not brother Joes best mate. You maybe pleasantly surprised. Just a thought, is this work because of an MOT failure or the garage taking the proverbial? Good luck with it.
Coz@TORQEN
Nearly 2 grand for all of that at £108 per hour labour 🥲 I would definitely look elsewhere for quotes, you can get a set of Stoptech pads which are arguably better than OEM and someone to fit them for £200 or less, almost half the price. https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/brakes/pads/512-350z-stoptech-sport-performance-brake-pads-with-hardware-kit-for-brembo-brakes-front.html All of the suspension components, go for MOOG, Nissan OEM are ridiculous money from the UK. Definitely should be around £60-80 labour per hour, rather than £108. None of the parts you've listed require any sort of 'specialist' garage, they're pretty simple nut and bolts jobs. We have some listed here, depending on where you're based: https://www.torqen.uk/content/11-recommended-garages
NI 350z Owner
First of all, I’m blown away with the response here. Thank you all. Yes. They are a dealership. Bells of Crossgar. Northern Ireland. They have also been looking after my daily driver for years and have always done a good job. They survey the car and give a video walkthrough of the parts that need replacing so you can see exactly what’s wrong. That’s really Helpful. I’ve asked for the part numbers: Please see attached part numbers :- 10170036A- FR PAD KIT BREMBO 10470098A-FR DISC 10470098A-RR PAD KI Genuine 48521AL500-TIE ROD 615701349- FR ARM 615701359- FR ARM Genuine D8520CD725-TRE Genuine D8640CD725- TRE These mean nothing to me but I’ll do more google searching on these tonight. So now, with this new context, the prices do look expensive but I have to remember that they include all the work and testing too and they would stand by their work which personally means a lot to me. If the work isn’t specialised then I’ll look around more. I will get another quote or two now. Thanks for all the recommendations. I’ll let you know what happens. You are all awesome.
