MONKEYSOCKS
This is not my car before someone asks. Just trying to identify the rusty part above the kidney bracket next to the exhaust pipe?
MONKEYSOCKS
Is it the rear crossmember brace guys? If so I've heard people say it's not structural and can just be removed? But if it is removed, then what do the kidney stay brackets attach to?
ZMANALEX
The corroded "W" bracing should be replaced at the same time as the kidney brackets. The other corroded panel which runs the width of the car behind the fuel tank can just be removed.

MONKEYSOCKS
That's great Alex, what do the kidney brackets attatch to if the rear board assembly is removed? Or am I wrong in thinking they attach to it in the first place?
rodgeevans
They attach to the chassis and subframe the nut at rear of the bracket connects to the subframe and there is 2 bolts at the front of bracket which connect to the chassis all shown circled in white. The red is for the board nuts and the blue is for the w brace bolts Edited July 5, 2023 by rodgeevans
MONKEYSOCKS
Perfect, think I'll just remove the board like Alex said. Don't want unnecessary rust under the car. Thanks for all your help guys.
