NikG
Hi So been foing some work to the z, snd its passed its MOT (yey). Im thinking about going for the UpRev tuning, probably through Horsham Developments. Now its an old car (2004 DE) so not looking to overstress it or to try and get some crazy hp, but faster throttle response etc would be nice. Just a general tune really. Engine mods so far are: Cat back exhaust (no idea what make) 5/16 plenum spacer Velocity stack on oem airbox (basically a diy version of the later air box) Panel filter Are there any other "basic" mods youd recommend/worth doing before the UpRev tune? Let me know Thanks Nik
NikG
From all the searching ive done the general concensus is that even with those mods the tune would be "worth it" and noticeable, but also happy to hear comments on if you think its a good idea. 👍
Olly350z
A damn good service would go along way before carrying out any tune to help you maximise the results and how the car responds. Fresh engine oil, Oil filter, New spark plugs You could add high flow cats to your exhaust system but you start opening up MOT headaches. Just remember anything you change performance wise on the car after the remap should ideally then be re-remapped
NikG
Thanks, yeah im avoiding cat changes! If i can get the basics done pre tune, ill probably leave it there in terms of engine mods. Should have mentioned, full service done. First thing i always do. Years of racing bikes has me dropping oil and plugs probably a bit more often than needed! davey_83
If you take a near floor picture of the rear end, we should be able to tell you which system you have. With OE cats while they might pass an MOT, they're probably not flowing as well as when new so might nab a few hp. The below is worth a look also 👍 No bolt on n/a mods for the DE show much by way of gains, of course they all add up however this mod went a long way to improving engine pick up throughout the rev range. https://www.350z-uk.com/topic/111683-db-nissan-350z-gt-05/?do=findComment&comment=1833308 Edited March 13, 2023 by davey_83

I'm away with work this week, but i'll get a picture of the exhaust this weekend. nik

Tarmac Sportz Nissan 350z Lightweight Pulley and Belt Kit OP: I recommend high flow cats, don't worry about MOT cos you can just run a can of cataclean in your fuel system (£12 from halford) before the MOT and you will get a perfect emissions reading regardless what CAT's are on. Or just have a mate mechanic do your MOT. Edited April 21, 2023 by DarmoZ
