Going from a 350z to a 370z - anyone done it?

370z's are 350z+ basically, most stuff is just a bit better and nissan sorted out lots of issues things like suspension bushes last longer, cam cover gaskets are replaceable just little things like that. Despite being lighter they feel heavier to me, they are a bit more refined. Interior is a much nicer place to be, still has zero space in boot, it has a glovebox but you can only really fit some gloves in. Mods are a bit more expensive as there are less 370's about.

I've personally always preferred the looks of the 350, maybe as it was always a dream car, used to sit and stare at them in the nissan garage whilst I waited to collect s13 parts, but the 370 is a menacing thing to look at on the road. The extra width is nice on wide roads but country lanes it's a bit nerv racking. Just make sure if it's around 70-80k it's had clutch and CSC done and it has some decent tyres on as they are not that cheap!

As a 350 owner I have driven several 370s including in day long test drives and as courtesys cars. I also drove one of the launch Nismos up the hill at Goodwood, and around Silverstone on a couple of Nissan organised events.

I'd agree about the detail refinements but for me the one thing that didn't get captured is the 350's Soul.

The 350 is a "Driver's Car", and i still get a tremendous Grin when I take it out for a spin. My 350 is 18+ years old with 115k miles on it including over 100 laps of the Nordschleife and has never let me down. It's 1= for me with my Escort RS1600.

The day I took delivery I said to myself "this one's a keeper!". And it still is (wish I could have done the same with Escort!).

P.s. Dont tell my eldest son any of this - he loves his 370Z Nismo V1!!

I went from a 350Z DE to a mark 2 Nismo both well documented on here. Completely different cars to drive imho. 350Z is much more engaging to drive , 370Z more if a tourer.. Both great cars but they don’t compare. I then went from the Nismo to a 1970 Datsun SSS coupe. Now that’s a different level entirely…

Ive been currently thinking about going from my 350z DE to a 370z - the increased power, downshifting etc appeals to me....but is it a worthwhile change? What are the 370's generally like compared to the 350? Much difference?

I had 1 350Z, 2 Nismos and Now 370Z GT. Ill leave it there. Lol

370 doesn't sound as good but I prefer it. More grip at the back, more refined. Being Auto up and gone. Manual is modern manual and smoother with synchro rev

350 more raw. Road tax mehh

Higher seating position and more road presence. Slightly more Torque.

I think one thing that puts me off is the increased £600+ road tax. Atm in my 350,im paying the £300+ tax plus around £200 insurance a year - bargain hehe!

You can get around the tax, all 2016 June onwards registered 370's come in at the cheaper tax bracket, a mistake I wished I'd had looked into as mine is a May registered vehicle and sits in the higher tax bracket!

Personally I still miss my 350z but I do love owning a Nismo 370. If you were to get a newer 370z GT and modify it then I'd say you'd enjoy owning a 370 more due to the refinements. Owning a Nismo is great but there isn't anywhere near the modifications available without detracting from the car itself so its definitely a catch 22.

In a perfect money isn't a concern world I'd probably have a manual 370 GT in gray, on a 17 plate that I could then waste money on making it true my own

My previous 350z and now Nismo 370z

Id say my budget would be around £15K,so im priced out of a white Nismo - which i do think are the best looking 370s! An early silver 370z just looks a bit dull compared to the Nismo imo. The only thing i dont like about them are those 'pinkish' strips they have hehe.

Im surprised by that,i thought the 350 would be more of the tourer and the 370 more agressive because of the higher power hehe. But then again, ive never driven a 370. How do you mean more 'engaging' to drive?

Much more driver involvement in a 350Z and a rawer experience. More spirited to drive I would say imho . It’s only my view of the experience. Like I say I had a 370 mark 2 Nismo and loved it BUT it’s a very different experience driving a 370 to a 350. If you want a real blast and have a true spirited engaging car to have fun in the 350Z is the winner. As others have said drive a 370Z and you may agree or disagree with my views..My two below back in the day..

I've had 2 x 350z and 2 x 370z I love them all. I prefer the 370z as they're more refined and a nicer cockpit to be in. My wife prefers her 350z.

The 370 convertible is the only one I havent had. Ive test driven the 350 convertible. The white and blue roadsters sell quickly.
