m0zzy
Ive wanted one for YRS, and now im at the time of my life where i can have a 'weekend' car.. Im not a 'Petrol Head', just love the astheticsof it.. As a new owner, is there any first timer advice anyone could give.? at the min Im stuck between, I want her to be perfect - BUT - shes 14yr old,.. so when i hear a rattle, over uneven road, i just put it down to her age,. when i put her into 6th, it crushes a tiny bit, is this her age or a majrt problem..? Thanks in advance for any replies.. :)
Andy_Muxlow
Hi and welcome along buddy. I take it you already have a car? If so, let's see some pictures please... If it crunches going into 6th gear the synchro's are on their way out so might need replacing. rattles could be anything really possibly drop links or banana arms.
m0zzy
Hey, Thanks for the reply,.. Is replacing the synchro expensive.? Are there any specialist 350z garages around the uk, other than nissan garages ..? also, I watched a few YouTube vids and read buyers guides before i bought, all saying about the rust on the 'W Bracket' There is a bit of rust on mine, how serious is it ..? Other then a few rattles and rust and the 6th gear crunch (Which doesnt happen if i change slowly), Shes in perfect condition for a 14yr old car.. Thanks again ... marzman
I wouldnt worry about the crunching on gear change... Just double declutch on the gear change into the crunch gears and it'll be fine (clutch in, neutrul, clutch out, clutch in, into 6th, clutch out). Sounds like a faff but you'll soon get the hang of it. I used to have to do it into 3rd and it took me about 2 years after selling the car to lose the muscle memory. 😀 Just get some decent tyres and enjoy it. Michelin Pilot Sport 4's will do the trick. Michelin recently released the Pilot Sport 5, I've got them fitted on my rear two. Maybe take a look at those instead if MP4 stock is low

For garages there is Horsham Developments, Abbey Motorsport and Kaizer Motor. I believe they're regarded as the top three. High quality and beyond the standard of traditional garages. 350Z's require a bit of knowledge and I wouldn't trust a garage unless I'd checked them out first. How much is a 'bit'? Let's see a photo For a cheap fix on the 6th gear crunch maybe add some Molyslip to the gearbox? Attached is my W Brace as of a few months ago so you can compare. 57,000 miles, 2007 Edited November 14, 2022 by polaris

Just get it replaced within a year.

They sorted the oil gallery gaskets on my car and I went back to have some springs put on too. They work on loads of these cars and are a good bunch. https://www.facebook.com/abautoworkshalifax
KUGT4
Possible cheaper option - install a half bar shifter to replace stock gear knob and check the clutch fluid for absorption - used to crunch mine all the time before doing this Personally bought new W brace, kidney brackets and all the bolts (£80 on their own) for when mine falls off/fails MOT
