Replaced battery in both fobs and now neither work

As per the title, unfortunately.

 

My primary key fob was showing in the gauge cluster that it needed a battery replacement, so I decided to do both in the same go.

 

However, when I press the buttons on either of the fobs, I don't get any response from the car. I'm having to unlock the car with the manual key, which doesn't seem to fully unlock the car and results in the alarm going off rather embarrassingly.

 

I was doing some reading and discovered this over on the 350z part of this forum;

 

I'm guessing my car is also in "locked mode", so I'm wondering how to get it out of that and how to reprogram the keys.

 

This is the first time that I've replaced the battery, so I'm quite unfamiliar with the process.

It's worth pointing out that the car does seem to accept the key in the socket, as it was indicating to remove the key since the door was still open (like it always does). I was also able to turn the engine on fine.

However, once I was out of the car and shut the door, I then found out that the door remained locked.

Pretty sure you need to sync the fobs with your zed, put the fobs in the fob slot to the right of the steering wheel, then when you remove the fob the buttons will work. 

This is what timpsons showed me, i gather we are talking about a 370Z?

Yep, this is indeed on a 370Z.

 

So I tried putting the fob in the slot when I managed to get into the car, whilst the alarm was going off. But I couldn't seem to use the buttons after having pulled the key out again.
