Tomato
Any tips? Planning on doing door handles, car vents and all the centre plastics in blue carbon vinyl. Suspect will be fun as a few curvy bits to work around 🤔
coldel
I could be wrong as it’s been ten years since I did the same but the centre console has dimples which will be visible once wrapped - it won’t appear flat.
ZMANALEX
Dipping appears to be the favourite procedure at the minute.
Tomato
Have heard about dipping, is it expensive to get done? Was hoping it would look flat, maybe need to see if any dippers in the Leeds area?
zelda
Think you have to sand the dimples flat before dipping to get rid of them.
Tomato
Thanks, watched a number of video now, looks like wrapping is possible but need to use brushes to push the vinyl into the grooves, it will mean they are likely to show through, although may look OK with a carbon effect? Only way to know for sure it to wrap a panel and see I suppose. Not sure like the idea of sanding out the dimples, feels little risky, other option maybe to paint them if wrapping does not work. coldel
They will show through the paint too? if you want a quick and easy solution plast dip is an option and requires little skill to get right
Tomato
How much prep do you need to do for plast dip, all in bits so could go get some? Assume Halfords or somewhere will sell? Wrap was not sticking enough to be comfortable it would last 😀

pintopete58
And there is a lot of sanding / prepping to get the finish you want The guy who did mine prepped everything
Tomato
Does look good, may do plast dip for now, been quoted 180 for two internal panels (ones that go around the stereo, but need to think about what else if I go this route and of course colour 😁
