SWoMP
Dreaded MOT has "advised" my Cats' Heat Shields are rusting away (although Cats must still be working as emissions still compliant). Anyone know if the Heat Shields can be replaced separately? TIA
Coz@TORQEN
Hi, As far as I remember the heat shields are actually part of the OEM cats, see diagram: https://nissan.7zap.com/en/er/z/z33/5+701+65535/c/208/ Your best bet would be aftermarket HFC's unless you can find a decent priced set of OE cats (they're £2k+ brand new). Then sell the OEM ones and you'd most likely end up with some profit after purchasing the HFC. We're expecting these in around 2 weeks or so: https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/exhausts/high-flow-cats/62687-350z-de-z33-torqen-high-flow-cats-v2-trq-vqde-hfc-v2.html They'll pass MOT just fine, providing they're properly warmed up right before the emissions test. ZMANALEX
No need to splash the cash on this one, just remove the heat shields and you will be golden.

Mine were rattling and now they're strapped up the problem is solved. That is unless you want to change the cats. With these, any known issues with setting off the O2 sensors? I know some necessitate spacers or remaps to avoid the fault.
SWoMP
Thanks for the replies each. I have a pair of secondhand oem cats and looked at putting these on. However, when I looked at existing it is clear the only problem is the heat shields as the cats themselves easily pass the emission test. So, I'm going to remove the heatshields and run like that for a while, keeping the s/hand but almost new ones as backups. Incidentally, Amayama say new oem no longer available from Nissan. If they do, you can have it mapped out as a last resort.
