TheOracle71
Hope I’m posting in the correct section. I have the common issue with the tailgate on my 370z Nismo where one press of the release button only partially unlocks the tailgate/boot/trunk (whatever you want to call it). Anyways, I set about removing the boot lid liner with the intention of removing the weight that I’ve seen online. Liner off in one piece but no weight in sight, only the holes where I presume it should be . Dammit; liner reinstalled. So, I thought the next plan would be to try the penny trick with the two spring things. Big FAIL; even with one penny inserted the plastic shroud kept popping off. Heath Robinson moment As per the photos I found some rubbery sticky pads which I cut to size and stuck on the car body to compress the springs a bit more. So far, it has opened every time with one press
Andy_Muxlow
Very nice trick I may have to try this on mine.
TheOracle71
If my Heath Robinson fix fails my back up plan is to order some modified improved spring assemblies from here: https://www.opentop.fr/shop?lang=en Edited January 30, 2021 by TheOracle71 Added photo
Jack94
I can vouch for the opentop springs, I always used to have this problem with my 350 but now with them installed it clears the latch every time Edited January 30, 2021 by Jack94
