Diesel
Hi good peoples, Just a little about myself as an introduction. In my younger days I used to race a bit of motocross. I've always liked motorsports, and like most of us here, a bit of a rev head. I currently have a Clubman GoKart, and a 2012 370Z. My friends nicknamed me 'Diesel' as I always had the dirtiest, rough looking vehicles, but they always went well and reliable. These days I'm semi-retired (63 y.o.) and my 370Z is my second car. I mostly take it out on week-ends, and do the occasional track day. I notice that even though this is an Introductions area, that a lot of people seem to ask questions here so I'll do like wise. I recently installed a Z1-Motorsports Oil Cooler to my 370Z. I had a bit of trouble getting the hoses onto the sandwich plate, but generally went well. One thing puzzled me though was this: on all the videos I watched before doing this, the only thing they mentioned being attached to the bumper bar were the running lights. My car being a 2012 doesn't have these, so I was expecting just to pull the bumper off and walk away with it. I found there were lots of stuff connected to my bumper. There were 3 connections that looked like sensors, and 2 water connections to the washer bottle. I later found out that the 3 sensors were part of the airbag system. The connections to the washer bottle seem to be something to do with headlight cleaning. After putting it all back together, I had the hood warning light flashing at me. After some research, I found it was somehow connected to the airbag system, and taking the bumper off had triggered it. I also found that by performing a Reset using the Turn Ignition On and Off procedure fixed this. I suppose I have two queries if anyone can illuminate. Is my car somehow unique in having all this stuff attached to the bumper (not mentioned in any videos)? Does anyone know how the headlight washers work? The hoses just seem to run up to the inside of the bumper and end there? Merry Christmas to all. Cheers, Diesel.
