miller_350
Hi, Would a Greddy Oil cooler fitted result in lower oil pressure than without one? Cheers
Ekona
Only if your oil is low, but I’m assuming you topped that up during the install. How low is the pressure? I mean you could see a fractional pressure drop if the new pipe work is significantly longer than the old and the oil pump is worn, but I’m grasping at straws here. Really there should be no difference in pressure at all.
miller_350
Thanks for your reply. Oil level is fine. I am having issues with the oil pressure sensor (auto gauge aftermarket one). When warm idle it says nil but mechanic has confirmed it's fine and on 15 psi. I have changed the switch and sensor but the same. I just thought maybe the oil cooler would make it lower and sensor isn't accurate hence warning light comes on. It is intermittent to even register a reading so must be wiring or maybe the gauge itself. Cheers
Ian
Cheap gauge, I've had cheap ones in the past & they never work properly. Gives a right scare when your oil pressure suddenly drops to zero and your 150 miles from home Best off with a Defi/Greddy gauge, they are pricy but they work so well :)
Ekona
Agreed, sounds like the gauge to me. Bin it and try something better.
miller_350
Thank you both, was just about to spend £95.00 on a replacement from eBay! It also has auto gauge water and oil temp alongside it (the volts had been moved) so I assume I need to replace all three together?
Ekona
Up to you, but if you can’t trust one would you ever trust the others?
miller_350
True, they do work but suppose difficult to tell how accurate they are. I thought they might be linked and had to replace all three if changing to a different make. Cheers
ZMANALEX
As has been said, cheap gauges will be your demon. PM on its way.
