markvb
Hi all, my Z's gearstick gaiter has started to perish and needs replacing. To save me trial & error, does anyone know the easiest/best way of doing this?.... it looks like (1) the gearstick knob and (2) the silver plastic cover around the bottom of the gaiter both need to be taken off, but how? Is there a particular knack for doing this? Many thanks, Mark
Mikey_S
Have a look at the video in the link above, pretty simple to do
markvb
Hey Mikey_S, many thanks for that, very useful and I have now removed the gaiter. The perished part of the gaiter had actually been nibbled away by something - a mouse? - as had the ring of insulation material which sits under it. As had a small bit of the outer side of the rubber boot which sits under the insulation. Nothing dead, though, within the void. How it got into the car God alone knows, maybe through the heating vents?
Mikey_S
Wow, state of that! Definitely vermin by the 'bits' in the white insulation. May be worth leaving the gaiter off for a few days and putting a trap in the car
