MartinW
Does anyone know if the HR and DE steering wheels are interchangeable? To expand a little bit... I have a HR with cruise control etc. The plan is to buy a reshaped wheel from royal and swap my controls onto it. Then I wanted to fit my old HR wheel into a DE as I don't like the orange leather at the bottom, the de also has cruise control etc so i'll swap those controls onto the old HR wheel and send the DE one back to royal. Hopefully that makes sense, can anyone tell me if that would all work? Edited June 18, 2020 by MartinW
pintopete58
Hi. Yes I would say I've just bought a facelift steering wheel for the switches as on the facelift the writing's on the switches and not on the metal surround
pintopete58
Airbag and everything was the same if you have DE gt with both sets of switches. Right & left hand side
MartinW
Thanks for the reply. So if I've understood correctly, they are compatible but the switches are different but only because of the writing?
pintopete58
That's right it's only the writing de has printed lettering on switch surround facelift has lettering printed on switches
MartinW
Fitted my new wheel yesterday but now I am wandering if I tightened the centre bolt enough. Does anyone know what torque it should be at? Edited August 2, 2020 by MartinW Typo

MartinW
Nice, yeh royal steering wheels, they've done a v good job. Just found the answer to my question about the torque. 22-28 ft-lb Surprised it wasn't a little higher but looks like I got it right

Royal steering wheels do an option where if they have one in stock they supply the wheel then after fitting you send yours back to them. They have quite a few options of different materials and shaping etc so their costs will depend on what you want.
