dnandrews
Hi My first post! I have just taken posession of my new pride and joy, a 2006 56reg 350Z with GT Pack and Sat-Nav, metallic black coupe. I have done a few searches regarding my question but am not sure I've found what I am looking for. I have the hand-free mobile phone buttons on the steering wheel and the Navigation manual I have been given details setting this up using Bluetooth via the Nav screen. However, I don't have the Phone option on my Navigation screen. I appear to have what looks like a microphone or speaker just above the rear-view mirror but in one of the storage locations between the seats, I seem to have what looks like a mobile cradle of some kind, although I can't see the connectors, just a cable going out the back. Does this mean the car isn't equiped with bluetooth hands-free or am I missing something? If it isn't there, can I have this fitted fairly easily? Any chance it just needs enabling? Cheers, David EDIT - I have found this thread http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... fa70443946 and I definately have the cradle looking item in the picture but I don't know about the other adapter next to it. Hi, thanks. Don't think it was me. I live in West Sussex but bought the 350Z from Veloces of London in Barnet. David
mikhan
Hi, check the box between the seats, if there's a black thing right in the middle -> you have the bluetooth adapter. Btw, it does not work with navigation screen, you can give it voice commands but that's it

I am happy to purchase it seperately if it isn't but if its been removed when it shouldn't have been, thats a different matter! With this Bluetooth adapter, what functionality do I get? Presumably the steering controls, microphone and speaker. What about voice dialing and/or phone book options? Are the navigation based phone controls in the manual only for other Nissan models? Sorry, lots of quesions!! Many thanks, David

dnandrews
Thought it may be easier if I post a quick picture of what I have (see attached). Looks like I don't have the BT adapter so the only question is whether I 'should' have had one included and its been removed or whether I just need to buy one. I've had a very quick look at the PDFs in the above post (many thanks for those).

In that case I shall be phoning the dealer tomorrow! No doubt they will claim it wasn't there when they bought it from the seller. My reason for linking the nav and the phone (and the questions about the phone book etc.) are that my Navigation manual I have been given is the only manual I have that mentions the bluetooth or handsfree telephone and it details configuration and access via the navigation screen. It says to access all the options by going to Settings - Phone .... etc. David
Ebized
In that case I shall be phoning the dealer tomorrow! No doubt they will claim it wasn't there when they bought it from the seller. ITS PART OF THE STANDARD EQUIPMENT - EARLY 2006 ZEDS CAME THROUGH WITHOUT THE ADAPTER AND DEALERS HAD TO SUPPLY THEM LATER. IF YOU WERE NOT SPECIFICALLY TOLD THERE WAS NO ADAPTER THEN INSIST ON ONE BEING SUPPLIED. YOU ARE NOT THE FIRST TO FIND THE ADAPTER MISSING AS THEY ARE AN EASILY REMOVED ITEM WORTH, AS I SAY, SOME £75+ THAT SOMEONE HAS NO DOUBT POCKETED ALONG THE LINE. My reason for linking the nav and the phone (and the questions about the phone book etc.) are that my Navigation manual I have been given is the only manual I have that mentions the bluetooth or handsfree telephone and it details configuration and access via the navigation screen. DO YOU HAVE THE NISSAN "350Z OWNER'S MANUAL" - BASICALLY A HALF INCH THICK HANDBOOK? ALL THE PHONE INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN IT. PAGES 4.23 - 4.42 COVER THE SUBJECT It says to access all the options by going to Settings - Phone .... etc. David

If they did remove it, i'm guessing they removed the manual as well to cover their tracks (I mean the small BT manual as per a link in a previous reply)! Seeing as I mentioned the handsfree during the test drive, they definately said it was included, they just weren't sure what functions I would get! I'll double-check, you're probably right. I just got caught up in the instructions in the nav guide rather than the main handbook. Thanks again. I'll post something to let you know how I get on with the dealer!! dnandrews
Well, I spoke to the dealer and they are claiming that the BT adapter is purchased seperately but the car is 'prepped' for hands-free. They are saying the owner then has the option of buying a cradle compatible with their phone OR the BT adapter. Many thanks to all who replied to my question and provided links to the manuals etc. David

If you car has been sold with bluetooth connectivety, and certainly if it is registered as a 56 plate, then the adapter is part of the original spec for the car. Don't be fobbed off - its been tried on others. If you want chapter and verse to argue your case with the supplying dealer visit a Nissan garage and ask them to confirm the chassis numbers onwards that were so equipped. M13KYF
what has probably happened is that the previous owner has sold the bluetooth adaptor separately on somewhere like ebay after selling the car. The dealers are under no obligation to re supply another bluetooth adaptor. I reckon sadly that you'll have to purchase one separately. As said before try MJP or Holdcroft. See the forum discount section for more info.

If the dealer advertised the car as having bluetooth connectivity then they should have ensured the adaper was there for the purpose, remember it is the adapter that provides that function not the cradle or anything else in the car. Mike: This seems to be an increasingly common issue. May I suggest a warning sticky in the FAQ's, or wherever you think appropriate, so that others are pre-warned?
