Market is bare? It’s fuller than it’s ever been: M240, Cayman, A110, Mustang, Supra and the venerable TT. In terms of drive alone I would expect the ZP to be better than only the TT out of that bunch. That’s a tough sell.

And that’s before we get to the mega hatches that the world and his wife seem to want these days. I can see why Nissan won’t bring it here.

But none of those sit in the same field, if you want to aspire to a nice 2 series that's fine but I've never got the point of the baby beamers. I have a big beamer and I love it I'm not sure if want a mini version. They're also mostly all way more expensive than hopefully this will be. If you want a Japanese car then the supra is your only option and your still left driving a z4. Maybe the UK market isn't bothered about things that look different but given the chance there's a market. People still look at my 17 year old 350, nobody looks at a 17 year old TT.

I’ll be first to add my spoon to the stew.... really do not like the look of the 400z, I like the wheels but it looks like a ford mixed with a jaguar , however I do like the look of the heritage rear lights from the ZX,

But they are in the same field. 2 seater or 2+2, sporty designs, turbo engines, great to drive for fun or as a daily. Price is near as dammit the same, and as I’ve said before it’s the residuals and thus the monthlies that’s make them such tempting propositions. £45k-£55k is where we all suspect the ZP would sit anyway, so it’s got some really tough competition. You’re right, there is a market for the ZP, but it’s a tiny one. Even the Alpine is being withdrawn for poor sales, and that’s universally adored.

Btw, if you’ve never driven a hot 2 series you really should. They’re amazing.

Either way ill wait for more news from actual Nissan workers. Autocar may have jumped the gun to get news out and get people talking. Its not official. Like Stanski said most likely a ploy to test peoples enthusiasm for a new car. Then they can decide.

It is official, every UK journo received the same email. AC, TG, PH, all reporting the exact same thing. It ain’t coming here.

And I do feel that’s a shame. It may not be to my taste, but we’re supposed to be a global market for all now and any time a sports car isn’t available everywhere sets a very bad precedent. :(

I think Alpine is too niche though? I can't stand the round lights (I hate Bentley for that reason) Porsche seem to be the only company who have made circular lights work on modern cars. Dunno why Renault are using the Alpine name in F1 I imagine most of the world doesn't have a clue what it is. I've always liked that Japanese sports cars don't fit in some sort of progressive range. I don't want the car available in 50 sizes with a million engines. I guess I'm obviously not the usual buyer of such things though.

The problem with the Alpine is the £50k + price tag yet you can get the same fun in an Mx5 for less than half the price?

Renault like most manufacturers trade on past history and labels to market alternative brands to get the money in. DS for example for Citroen.

The Zed was always supposed to be an honest reasonably priced fun sports car if it goes towards the £45k+ price tag it will fail here.

Anyway nothing will happen until the actual first production model is out and reviewed by all those moaning YouTubers in the states

Let's be thankful Nissan decided to stick with a Zed, SUVs might be king as far as sales are concerned but we cant all live on pie and chips sometimes a bit of exotic kebab is a nice change. :D

Forgot to mention my other half has an M2 and it's ace, fun performance handling yet rear seats and a decent boot - you can have both rice and chips!

I just like that my giant rocket barge is just as fast as all the M's but looks like boat makes for fun times on the roads :P I dunno personally I like the big BMW's for the luxury and effortless performance and I like the rarer more unique stuff to have fun in even if it's slower or not as finessed.

The timing of the 370 onto the market in 2009 was a commercial disaster with the financial climate at the time, and I do wonder if Nissan have targeted markets for the 400 where spare money is more available in a shrinking market for petrol guzzlers.

Europe and the UK in particular have clearly put their marker down that non-fossil fueled cars are the future, no doubt prompting Nissan to not be bitten again, with the writing on the wall that anyone other than true sports car enthusiasts (and those with more money than they no what to do with ) are likely to risk forking out their hard-earned cash on something that will be increasingly tax targeted.

As nice as twin turbo V6 might appeal and no doubt the final detail renderings will react to initial feedback from the teasers released, my head will, sadly, not let my heart yearn for another Z given a combination of the financial climate and the green agenda.

I think someone mentioned earlier if they are building a RHD one for the home market, what more do they need change the number plate mount and Speedo for mph job done!

Maybe we should set up a club import company and do it ourselves haha.:bangin:

Lol just dont take it to a HPC.....we will see. If you dont ask you dont get.

Ill believe it when I see it from the CEO

They can set up a petition and gauge it from there. UK is more open to it than Europe.

But if it actually doesnt come can import just a case of cost and is it really worth the added cost if shipping. Probably not for some.

Stayed up last night foolishly to watch the live stream of the reveal. There was a great buzz about the car initially but the questions got stupid and the MC was annoying so I turned it off after half an hour. Who would have thought we would live in an age where there's such a hype about a manual gearbox (and a manual handbrake for that matter) in a sports car no less! However, I'm glad they kept it in and it could differentiate the car for some buyers. Shame that it's not coming to Europe but understandable, still leaves imports as an option for the serious buyers. Maybe that's something I'd look at in 5-7 years time when I'd look to buy, depending on residual values.

My opinions on the looks, not a fan of the black roof but I'm sure that could be an option (I'd rather all yellow but I'm biased). I'd be interested to hear how much carbon is in the car and what the weight figure is. Only issue witht the back end was the wonky Fairlady Z badge for me but I could live with that and presumably is a tribute to a previous Z. Front end reminds me of an Aston Martin, which is a good thing. Massive bonnet and nice flare on the wheel arches. The front grille just looks a bit too happy for me, maybe needs some more curves/angles but nothing too aggressive. Wheels looked alright but there are plenty of aftermarket options anyway, more important would be getting lightweight forged wheels as standard. As for the engine, if it is the VR30DETT then it should come with great BHP for UK roads, further tuning potential plus a swathe of aftermarket parts already so enough to future proof it.

I was really looking forward to seeing one in a UK showroom and maybe test driving it but maybe that was wishful thinking.

I can see that buying a new 370z from a dealership and slapping some turbos on would make for a much more powerful alternative. There is no replacement for displacement, if this is the 3.0 TT engine.

That Nismo (render?) looks really good though.

Yes sir!! Not the end. The 8 week wait is worth it . Then no need for HPCs since its not official here. Straight to Luton. Win win. For South owners ;)

Any takers for the Norf and beyond?!

Do it!!!

Me and my other half would have one? By the time we can get one in the UK maybe even my 10 year old would have passed her test, it could be her first car!! Imagine the insurance cost on that? :scare:

How much is an SVA these days? I mean there’s the costs of the conversion as well so call it a grand for sorting out the lights and bits, but probably peanuts compared to the purchase and importing costs.

It's only worth doing all of this IF they have kept the  tape player in the stereo, won't be a proper Zed otherwise?

Anyway there are still enough people on here in the shipping industry?

I am sure we can duct tape some spare tyres to a few containers and power them along with a second hand outboard off fleabay?

Paint a Russian logo on the side and you get a free RAF escort through the shipping channels!! I got it all planned out, just make sure you bring enough pot noodle and a kettle to keep you going. :bangin:

On the bright side, (nearly) everyone owns face masks these days so at least you could be seen driving it in public without being recognised at no extra cost.
