davey_83
The actions the UK are taking compared to the other European countries. Feels like the start of a race, all the other teams are on full wets with the Monaco rear wing and we're the only team on slicks with the Monza wing......... and its pissing it down
coldel
The government wording is very deliberate and very Tory. By saying “advise” people not to go to bars etc they negate the need to compensate bars etc because they are not telling them to close. But bars etc now cannot claim on their insurance for loss of earnings (basically they are empty) and are in serious risk of failing as a business. You are right, they need to suck it up and say do this do that, not vague references to keep them off the hook. If the government is there to do anything it’s to be accountable.

If they stuck to the facts, then we wouldn't see the panic stricken behaviour we are right now. I think sensible people understand this is serious, what is fundamentally the problem is the media and profiteering that is going on at peoples expense. Have you seen whats going on in Italy, Spain and France in terms of lockdown and restrictions as well as deaths. Is that an exaggeration? Have a read through some of the newspaper headlines of the trash papers for the last couple of months, we should have all been dead by now according to some of them. Have a read through what I wrote, there is fact out there, there is a lot of poor information that is driving panic that otherwise could have been avoided. Have you read what a lockdown actually means? What it doesn't mean is that we are not allowed out and will starve to death in our homes. What it does mean is hugely reducing human to human contact. It is not a requirement that we go out buying 5000 toilet rolls and a years supply of pasta for ourselves and that everyone else goes without - thats irrational fear driven by poor communications, and there are enough morons in the general public to believe some of the rubbish being spouted all over social media and in the press. I get it, its serious, and its going to get very uncomfortable and we are going to have to stave off cabin fever more than any cold in the coming months. But I think too many people watch zombie apocalypse movies where only a handful of survivors are cannibals and heroes and thats whats in their heads right now. nowhereboy
I must say I went from being completely unfazed by the whole thing to fairly concerned very quickly. So much contradicting information in the press and even from governments and victims. We are being told the death rate is very low and only a real concern for elderly or unwell people. Then on another hand I've viewed loads of verified videos of European doctors on twitter in complete meltdown mode, some having nightmares when they sleep and showing lines upon lines of dying people on ventilation. I've saw doctors crying saying they can't help these people and that it's way more serious than governments are suggesting, they're also saying being young does not make you safe. So yea, it's all a bit confusing at the moment. Like everyone else I have bills to pay and currently work in an office with over 60 other people in an open space. Not a great deal I can do but keep cracking on until anything changes. I worry about the financial fall out as much as the virus itself. coldel
All I would add is follow only the official lines of information, definitely do not read anything into or repost anything you see on social media - whether its verified or not. Don't feed the panic machine. So many people are on the make at the moment to generate clicks, get their website shared so on and so forth. It's amazing how disgusting humans can be at times like this.

Latest I'm hearing suggests that we're basically heading towards full on lockdown, and the only reason to do that is until a vaccine can be found or we achieve herd immunity, both of which will take a very long time. All I can say is that if we're going to completely destroy the economy (which will lead to a lot more sick people not being able to get healthcare) then this thing had better be a whole lot more serious than what I've heard so far. I can't help but worry that short term panic is the driving force here, but I don't claim to be an expert - I'm just trying to process the information available to me. It's just very hard to make an informed opinion based on the information we have at the moment. I believe it's either going to blow over within a few months, the press will get bored and we will go back to business as usual or it's going to turn into a catastrophic sh*t show. I really don't know which of the two at the moment.

Lockdown compared to Italy is not being allowed to leave your home. Only being allowed to go to the shops to get urgent supplies. That being local. The Chinese lockdown basically didnt allow anyone to leave a catchment area unless they were medical staff, police or military. Its up to you whether you take it seriously or not. No ones saying you need to go out and buy 500 pasta bags and kitchen rolls etc. Just be wary. Judging by the amount of events such as Euros being postponed till next summer I think its kind of serious. I live in London ive seen the real empty shelves. Its happening more so here than anywhere else. Yes I get it people are stupid for panic buying and overreacting. Thats human nature, no one wants to die in a worse case scenario. What did you expect? Not everyone will react the same. Ive seen people with one or two items leaving the store, while others had their baskets packed. We dont know what the future holds, dont judge people for being scared and worried. How do you know its all based on media. It might just be reactionary. Seeing how others are buying everything they too want something for themselves. Just because youre not worried doesnt mean others are not allowed to be. Weve had waves like this before and there are going to be more which could be more severe. Either way theyll let us know what the next step is. Thats just my two cents. Why would we be more like China than Italy given the types of government regimes in place? Are people dying enmasse in Italy of starvation? No one is saying go out and buy way more than you need but gross negligence by both the trash media and social media have driven a lot of this behaviour. I also live in London and see empty shelves because the media are playing a huge role in panicking people. Nothing you have said is news. There is enough food and a supply chain in place to feed everyone, if people stop behaving like morons. If anything, this has shown how many tards we have living amongst us who are healthy and most likely not at risk quite happy to buy the stuff those that are at risk badly need. Those that have, hope you are proud of yourselves.

ATTAK Z
(CNN)Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler will temporarily shut down production in the face of the coronavirus outbreak, according a source familiar with their decisions. On Wednesday afternoon, Ford (F) announced that all of its factories would close for two weeks after the workday ends Thursday. "Production at Ford's US, Canadian and Mexican manufacturing facilities will be halted after Thursday evening's shifts through March 30 to thoroughly clean and sanitize the company's plants," the company said in an announcement.
