No point being an insurer if you're just going to bail when you have to pay out - would love to know the name of insurance broker and underwriter. He's using the Post Office, now they've told him that he should get his tickets refunded if he cancels his flight, or change the policy to cover the virus for £580. The trouble is that he is a worrier at the best of times.

GranTurismoEra
Theres a video circulating of people infected with the virus spitting in lifts in China and rubbing it in on the buttons and doors. Better purchase 100x black latex gloves for public use and take some sanitizer with you. Hopefully it doesn't catch on here. Crazy

Just goes to show how stupid people are though. Not only the panic buying, some are exploiting the situation with rip off price increases. My daughter usualy buys follow on milk for her 8 month old baby on Amazon as we live in a rural location,in the past few weeks it has gone from £65 per pack to £110 and another supplier is £129,sickening ! grumpyoldjanner
Food shopping in my local Tesco yesterday and the toilet roll aisle was empty. However there was plenty of kitchen roll in the next aisle over. Thinking of buying it all and re-packaging it as 'Jumbo Toilet Roll'

GranTurismoEra
people should be stockpiling dry pasta, soap and water instead. This is just the tip of the iceberg

My daughter is annoyed because she is gluten free and where shops have been running out of normal pasta people have been buying the gluten free instead so she is struggling to get any. You don't eat gluten free pasta for the hell of it (tastes awful), you eat it because you have to. Eating products containing gluten will probably make her more ill than if she gets Coronavirus.
coldel
The whole pasta thing is bizarre, given the amount of other food available that has long shelf life that remains untouched. All based on the media frenzy unfortunately telling people how to behave and what to do.
Ponsonby
Whoops of delight in the office today when someone discovered 2 bottles of sanitiser in the back of a cupboard. I immediately confiscated it and placed it in the company safe. Staff have been informed not to disclose this information in case we become a target for a robbery.

Its just a scenario no ones told anyone anything . Its like when the Jehovahs witnesses say you should have a small waterproof safe and keep vital documents and emergency fruit bars incase of sudden mass flooding or natural disaster. Because who knows what will happen. Whether you want to believe it or not is another story Because Dry or Brown Dry Pasta/Rice only needs heat and water to cook. Or you could eat rations, bread, fruit anything that doesnt require prep. You could survive on that . That would be priority over stockpiling toilet roll, which people will blow their nose or wipe their backside with. Soap and water will minimize infection and its spread. Surely that's more critical than stockpiling loo roll. Yes specialist foods and specialist diets will be off limits. Only the basic foods would be widely available. I have a colleague whos wife works in Government and shes been told that the death rate needs to reach 500 before they consider a lockdown similar to Italy for a minimum 2 weeks to contain further spread. People say well thats unlikely because like 5 people died over a week period. If you see other countries the increase of infected and dead can increase or decrease suddenly. Just depends. Umster
LoL. I love how people have stockpiled stuff without realising that if everyone else can sanitise then the virus still has plenty of breeding ground. Protecting the herd will protect yourself more than just being selfish. Mehhh, makes you wonder how the human race survived for so long.
