The Bounty Bar Kid
Yes it can be. But it is a ~300 bhp car. Did you expect it to be cheap?
coldel
You are going to have to pay the premium I am afraid, there are a few younger owners on here who pay a fair bit but thats the price of ownership.
Payco
3.5 litre, rear wheel drive sports car. Reality is you are sadly new to driving hence the risk. As Col says we have a fair few young drivers but its a cost of ownership unfortunately at your age.
Umster
If you don't have many/any mods you might be lucky. Try Lancaster, Brent Acre, Sky insurance etc. Just Google modified car insurance and see what the specialist insurers can do for you. If you're using it to commute to work, then yes with your age it'll hurt like a b****
Lewis2298
I managed to get insurance for £1200 @ 20 with 2 Years NCB back in April through Admiral. Stock asides from Exhaust & Spacers. Play around with named drivers etc.

LukeA
When I was 20 I had an RX8 and it was 1.7k a year and a 350z would have been 2k+. I’m 24 now and my insurance on the 350z is £800 a year, it might be worth you waiting another year like I’m doing for another car. A year makes a big difference to them for me. Also insurance is done on postcode, mileage amongst other things and these make a massive difference. Saying I do 13k miles a year makes it £600 more then saying I do 9000 miles a year edit- forgot to say it’s £400 CHEAPER a year if I declare mods. Mess around with your quotes and you’ll see the difference. Little things like on one day it will be £1.5k the next day it will be 1.4k I dunno why by there prices change a lot, also try at night around 1am if possible as I was getting cheaper quotes somehow at those times Edited September 11, 2019 by LukeA

AlexRussell99
Weird, I'm 20 with 1 year NCB, 2 yeard driving experience. Mods declared (admiral) £909.
Umster
Postcode makes a massive difference! I've had some insurers tell me that certain postcodes have are blacklisted. Some insurers will refuse to give a quote and others will just price you out. Don't use it for work, social and pleasure policies are very cheap and specialist insurers will heavily discount if you're a policy holder on another car. Adding a named driver works sometimes but I've also been told it always adds 250 to the policy and then any discounts/premiums are applied from there. Could also get a quote for 3k miles if it's parked up over winter and then ring them spring time and say you wanna increase the mileage. Ekona
Or you could buy a cheaper car to insure, if you can’t quite stretch to the insurance on a 350Z. Plenty of fun stuff out there that’s more affordable insurance wise
coldel
With insurance its an algorithm with some very basic inputs based on claims data. I moved two streets away 4 years ago, literally 200m and my insurance went up 10% Things like job title make a big difference, Sales Director and Commercial Director will give you two different quotes. Insurance is blindly driven off the back of data sitting on a database and you either get lucky or you don't depending on what inputs you give. As Dan (Ekona) said what about a car that gives sensible prices back? At 20 I was driving a 1.6litre ford paying £600 a year insurance and even then that was half the value of the car. The reason insurance costs are high for 20 year olds wanting to drive a 300bhp RWD performance car is their data shows that profile of people generally don't fair too well in them when it comes to making claims.
DoogyRev
I think the question should be can you afford to insure around £1500? Don't forget you need to budget for servicing, maintenance, tyres . . mods. If its too much of a stretch then go for something else as Dan said ^^ . . or go live with AlexRussell99 ^^, he seems to be winning in the postcode lottery Edited September 14, 2019 by DoogyRev
Silverthorn
Without knowing your budget, this may be a stupid thing to suggest. But have you had a look at insuring a 370? At 20, i wanted a 350 as well but the insurance was coming out upwards of £3000 for the year. I tried everything and still couldn't get the insurance down. On a whim, i tried insuring a 370 and it came out at less than half the price... Ended up purchasing my 370z about 18 months ago. At the time I had only been 20 for a few months. Obviously the outlay for the car is much more so it may not be viable. But worth a shot at least, especially with how depressingly cheap it is to get a 370 nowadays. First years insurance was through GoSkippy. This year has been purchased through Flux Direct, all mods declared for about £1300 ish. Not condoning finance but with interest rates so low, you could take out a 15k loan for 3 years, buy a car and have money left over for insurance, modding and servicing. . . All with a simple monthly payment.
