SiriusProjects
Hi Guys, I had my 370z Nismo serviced Friday. It all went well. The only thing my mechanic did say was that the mid section of the exhaust may need some attention at some point. With this in mind I am considering getting a new exhaust system. I've currently got Tarmac short tails on my zed and ideally I'd like a system that will produce the same sort of sound. Cosmetically I do like the systems with titanium tips. Any recommendations? HEADPHONES
If I had a 370z and needed an exhaust, the Ark Grip would be high on my list. Love the pipe work and comes with Titanium tips
sipar69
I have an Ark Grip. It’s quieter than short tails but a very good sound. It also looks the business. However, be aware that a small proportion of owners have fitting issues with this exhaust. I had to pay a local fabricator to have mine shortened on one side because one tip was sticking out significantly more than the other. No amount of adjustment would sort the issue so it was case of remove one tip, shorten and weld back on.

Actually it wasn't. It was originally fitted by Sly. The fitting was then double checked by a very reputable garage. It was fitted correctly. Had one on my 350z no issue but it doesn't fit the Nismo 370z. The pipes did not clear the rear diff so we had to cut, weld an extension to get it past the diff. We checked every way but it didn't fit. My mate has a garage and has worked on Jap cars as a specialist for years and has fitted 100's of exhausts systems and believe me it didn't fit without fabrication. That being said it's worth it. By far the best system I have heard and looks great. Edited September 11, 2019 by Payco

I’m too OCD to have misaligned tips

By far the best system I have heard and looks great. I spoke to Chris at Tarmac on Tuesday and had decided to go for the Ark Grip exhaust. However on seeing Payco's post as above, I called Chris back today to query this issue with him. It seems that Ark do two versions of this exhaust. One to fit a standard 370z and one for the Nismo version. If you are thinking of getting this exhaust from Tarmac, get in contact with them prior to ordering and state which exhaust version you require. I'm on holiday next week, but will be placing my order when I return.

Adrian@TORQEN
I still think the mid pipes were swapped, I remember Taras @ RTP having the same problem trying to fit one for our customer. Swapped the pipes correctly and all aligned perfectly fine. Ark only does one version for the 370z, see here: https://arkperformance.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2&search=370z I will however email them to confirm if they do a new version with "Nismo fitment". Adrian@TORQEN
Reply from ARK Performance:Hi Adrian, Our 370z GRiP Exhaust does not fit the Convertible and Nismo Model. The GRiP exhaust interferes with some brace bars near the differential in the rear. If you check our website when you click on the specification tab we list it not fitting the Convertible and Nismo model. For the Nismo model our DT-S Exhaust will fit. This is the DTS he's referring to:https://arkperformance.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3&search=370z

Payco
Worth getting and modding in my opinion regardless. Wasn't difficult to do. Happy to share what we did via a PM. What disappointed me was that I told Chris to reference this when selling future ARK systems for the Nismo but it fell on deaf ears and I footed the extra bill of £80 for the weld when I was told it would fit the Nismo no problem. mattross1313
Looking at the reply from ARk, via Adrian above, I can somewhat agree with their statement about the rear brace bars. I purchased a used Ark exhaust from a chap who had it fitted to a GT model....and I was fitting it to my Nismo. When it was all fitted up correctly the rear pipes were close to some of the rear bracing bars on the Nismo, but they did not touch once the system was all tightened up. Perhaps they are just saying this to add some protection should any rubbing occur? I ran it on my car for over 1 year with no issues. The only comment I would make with fitting it to a Nismo Vs a GT is that the tail pipes do not sit flush with the bumper. They sit a little more underneath the car, which I can only assume is due to the Nismo rear bumper being bigger/deeper? But never bothered me. In terms of the tailpipes not being lined up, or interfering with the diff on the Nismo - this is due to the mid pipes being fitted on the wrong side. Keyser and I fitted the Ark grip to my Nismo and on first fitment my car looked exactly like the photos from Payco. After some head scratching we swapped the 2 pipes over, tightened up the system, and boom! Perfect fitment (with the exception of the tail pipes sitting a little under the bumper as mentioned).

Understand and don't dispute what Matt has posted but we swapped them over and tried everything and believe me they didn't fit or align as the flanges butted up against the diff either way. The tips being sunk into the rear bumper was a massive issue for me so having to cut and weld extensions to get it past the rear diff solved the problem and allowed my tips to extend beyond the bumper and show off the burnt tips with the ARK logo. My OCD kicking in again. Edited September 12, 2019 by Payco

sipar69
Ditto mine. It was definitely fitted correctly. I always do my research and was aware the pipes can easily be fitted the wrong way around. The problem with my mine was that because the issue was not lateral misalignment no amount of adjustment made a difference. One tip pretty much lined up with the edge of the bumper and poking out about an inch and a half. Fabrication was the only option, which was disappointing for one of the more pricey systems.

SiriusProjects
Hi Guys, Well I've ordered the Ark Grip exhaust for my 370z Nismo. Can't wait to get it fitted. Yes there may be some fitting issues, but I do have a local welding firm on standby who can do any additional fabrication work required. The extra cost will be well worth it as I think it looks great. I will of course post up some pics once It is on. Just one question, will it be worth getting my zed remapped once it fitted? I'm guessing not, but just wondered.
