Wheel Polish

The wheels on my zed have been repainted black and I would like some recommendations on what product would be best for cleaning/polishing them.

 

Having looked online there are plenty of products available. However I'm not sure which ones would be suitable for use on painted wheels, as there may be certain products that could cause a reaction or damage the paintwork.

Any fallout remover will be fine on paint. If you protect your wheels, you won’t need anything more than normal car shampoo to clean them off, with the occasional hit of fallout remover (Car Chem Revolt) periodically.

 

In terms of protecting them, it’ll depend on your confidence and budget; at one end of the market you’ve got FK1000P, a hybrid wax that is easy to apply, cheaper than a cheap thing and will last a good few weeks but will require regular reapplications (monthly to six-weekly to keep it tip top). At the other end of the market is a coating like GTechniq C5, more expensive outlay and more involved to apply but will last over a year between applications.

 

Invest in a decent set of brushes (wheel woolies, pay for the proper ones as the cheap knockoffs tend to disappoint sooner rather than later!) and you shouldn’t need any specialist polish.

I have the C5 and revolt on the website, used both and can highly recommend them

I've got gloss black wheels with diamond cut faces on my Kia.

It's not just the protection you lay down but A VERY GENTLE wash technique that's needed.

 

The wheels collect alot of coarse brake dust and dirt.

You wouldn't go scrubbing that off your bodywork paint aggressively with a brush for fear of swirls.

The wheels are the same.

If not gentle when washing them, the gloss black finish will swirl up in no time.
