Good job done today, @zippypooz wrapping the windscreen surround. Before and after. I have black wheels so turning this black really sets the car off nicely.

Looks good. Will send you the invoice for renting my drive way on the next bill run.

Makes a big difference to the look of the car I think and goes with the black and blue theme.

Great weekend driving North Wales with a few of the guys from here (Lake Como reunion!) was just a day but the weather was great and was good to actually give the VX a run. I was the slowest of the lot and will happily admit the car still scares me given the horror stories I hear on ta inter web of them snapping and throwing you off the road. Seriously considering trying for a track day / driving training in it to find its limits as I am sure I got no where near them As I did my best Ms Daisy impression

Stopped at Caffeine and Machine on the way up

Then took a couple of pics whilst going around various roads

Would recommend a days one2one at Cat Driver Training with Colin Hoad.  Helped me to explore the limits of the Zed on the various test tracks at Bedford, and once you have done that the confidence levels are on a different level! Money very well spent IMO.

I think we all did fine mate, whether you've got 6.3L or 1.6L, 1730kg or 920kg there's plenty of fun driving to be had across north Wales without upsetting the locals, plod or the robots.

I don't know where you'd drive that racecar at ten tenths Col, but I hope there's a big run off! Defo need some time over the grip limit in a safe space.

Yeah it was still great fun had big smiles for miles. I think I put my foot all the way to the floor once during the whole weekend actually when we were driving up to meet Damo and Matt coming off a roundabout with a big dual carriageway in front of me and it went sideways almost instantly which possibly played on my mind the rest of the day  didn't dare do that again.

But yes was really ace, we were really lucky with the weather and aside from a few dickhead lorries driving down tiny country roads we had some good clear runs.

Done a fair bit of work on the interior to make it feel new and comfy, last thing really is the dash which had been covered in alcantara but was quite faded and gone a very light grey colour. So decided this weekend would be the weekend to take a punt and get the dash & binnacle out, buy some suede dye and recolour the whole thing.

Here is the dash out, took a fair bit of wiggling and then removing tonnes of bits like the plastic vents etc.

Cleaned and prepped the material, all brushed in one direction, then sponged on the dye. Dried and did a second coat. Got it to the right level of black I wanted which was not jet black but a premium looking slightly lighter black

Then got it back in the car, looks sooooo much better.

Huge upgrade on the grey that was in there before. Took about 3 hours in all, getting the dash out, prep, dye, dry and putting it all back together again.

Next job, sorting out the headlamps. After 15 years the sealant around them is crumbling and letting in water, so need to remove the lamps, get lens off, clean out and re-seal. Bought some butyl tape for the job.

Anyway getting the lamps off the car is a doddle, one bolt easily accessible! Makes a change! Then prying off the lens with the help of a hair dryer, tricky but didn’t take long. Removing the residue, a horrific job!

Anyway lens and lamp back together and back on the car, takes about 90 mins per lamp!

Did the other lens today, learning from attempt 1 was fit lens back with casing in place. I fluked getting it right first time didn’t believe my luck would last so put casing back in first, naked head lamp!

Anyway both done now, it was a dirty job but worth it

With the VX living outside I need to take any dry days in winter as an opportunity to keep it clean and remove winter debris. Just a basic rinse down and wash with my favoured Bathe+

Also a good opportunity for some car pic porn
