Chesterfield
Anyone else waiting with baited breath to see what is in store for our "gas guzzling" motors in Mr Browns budget? Apparently £200 road tax for anything over 250g/km CO2 emmissions - so us with our 280g/km are in the firing line... Why they dont take into account mileage I do not know. Derek_ZR
Just read that a little while ago and tried to renew my tax online. As my insurance also runs out on 31/3/06 it won't let me renew Just gone and renewed my insurance but that will take time to update the motor insurance database. If it goes up I won't be happy. Goochie
I've read on another car forum that it applies to cars registered AFTER today only.
Guest prescience
I don't think so; since GB says 50% of all cars will have same duty from tomorrow. £35 eh ... now I know what I saved it for

350Znismo
I can think how some Zed owners can save £30 per year and offset the tax rise. Join us It's Free
neo
£210 http://www.myfinances.co.uk/news/tax/ro ... 340020.htm
davegti
I'm kind of bothered that its £210 and but then again if greenpeace got what they wanted it would have been £600+ But even Browns not so stupid as to put it up by that amount so a reasonable increase will keep more money coming in and not really deter people from buying such un-economical machines Still we could always organise the best sounding/looking roadblock ever
Derek_ZR
I'm already going to be £2k down with my wage freeze over 2 years and with ever increasing petrol, road tax increases and home fuel going through the roof I would be as well jumping off a bridge
M13KYF
£210 is for cars registered after today. Otherwise it's £190.

Jacko
£210 is for cars registered after today. Otherwise it's £190.00 Mike, So probably being thick here, but why is it "only" £190 for cars registered before today if they have the same CO2 emissions? nikos
I can see RFL going the same way as petrol - petrol is now so high in price due to tax that they darent put any more duty on it for fear of civil war, well, being booted out at the next election
