The mk4 Supra was bland and ugly, hence everyone throwing bodykits at it just to give it some style! The mk5 looks just like modern Jap cars, ie give it angles for the sake of it and be damned with cohesive design. That’s why it’s not a looker from what we’ve seen so far. supra mk 4 wasnt ugly. You knew something beefy was coming down the road. This is a cute little car like the z4 lol
Ekona
I’m okay with agile over brawn. Although given that most Supras over here were the NA auto ones, there wasn’t much brawn at all This looks much more aggressive than the mk4. coldel
Yes the mk5 is definitely much more aggressive looking, but if you look at the mk6 celica they both followed a very similar design style. Also cars back then in general didnt have an aggressive look. Just look at how 'happy' Zeds look even when they were styled years later, in basic form hardly aggressive either Cars generally didnt have an aggressive look in the early 90s swooping lines was all the rage, look at the 300zx, RX7, GTO, R33 etc. The NA version was decent enough but not a patch on say the M3 at the time, but thats why the TT was around, which was and still is a legendary engine, fully forged straight out the factory

For the 90s enough to get a pointy finger waved at you for being on the loud pedal.

Well The exception was a Vauxhall Corsa made to sound like a Nissan GTR. I kid you not. That clip sounds like any automatic paddle shift 4 pot turboed sports car. Farting, Turbo spools, crackles, pops. The new trend. Ok its a bit beefier because 6 cyclinder. It sounds no better than a stock nismo with stock exhaust. Or an A45. They are blurring out as if we dont know what it looks like rofl Edited December 19, 2018 by GranTurismoEra
StevoD
Listen to It's legendary 3.0 litre, ffs they really going to try and sell it on the iconic supra stuff which this has Non of
coldel
Seems an odd video to release, it sounds like any other OEM 6 cylinder with a heavily catted exhaust. Sure a few crackles but hey par for the course really. Sure it will sound much better when the exhaust and cats are sorted

Ekona
Ironically it’s already a more popular engine than the 2JZ, given how many are already out there...
un1eash
The B58 is a great engine, only problem I've heard so far is the weak radiator BMW fitted which is easily punctured. They won't admit its a problem but from 2017 have started fitting plastic rock guards behind the grills.

No not supra. It looks like a capable car, but Z4 would be a safer bet with maintenance pack. Had the nismo before so its more realistic. Im still young. Still got time. Sorry if im popping up everywhere with ideas of grandeur...... New Supra 2019. Discuss....

And while the B58 isnt yet a legendary engine, the N54 that came before it is certainly getting there - the JZ wasnt legendary until long after it went out of production ..... Definitely in the market for this and the Z4, just hope they dont end up too heavy.

Toyota have played a blinder really, kept the intrigue going, I bet forums are alight with chat, it wouldnt surprise me if they had leaked that photo themselves to keep it going. Will be interesting to see the final launch photos and to see in the flesh, stats (weight), interior, the price of one with decent spec and as Doc says if there is any difference in maintenance and warranty schedules, which is doubtful, although Subaru and Toyota were different on the gt86 and brz.

un1eash
I wonder if you'll get 5 year warranty with the Toyota. The £50k+ price tag means I won't be looking for a while until they come down in price. Edited December 24, 2018 by un1eash
