Stu R
I'm after a 2nd car, my list goes as far as: Audi A3 Alfa Romeo 147 Clio Williams Renault Clio Sport 172 I'm after something basically which isn't a crappy micra, or polo, etc, preferably with leather seats.. air con etc. Any recomendations, or what not to buy? A couple of mates have had Alfa Romeo's and said they are just utter shite for reliability. Seat Leon any good?

I agree, you will find it hard to find a decent one of those for under 3k
Stu R
There are a few with high mileage for under 3k. Clio Williams is doable, I just don't like the idea of spending too much cash on a 2nd car for shopping trips and giving mates lifts. Could go up to about 5k, but was aiming at around 3. sl114
going from 3-5k makes a big difference in the quality of the car you may get
Trev-the-Rev
Alfa's are very good drives but sooo unreliable. I think you will struggle to get a Clio 172 for £3k that's any good.
Ian
200sx? May get a high mileage S14 for 3k
Stew
you'd get an early wrx for 3k. There are loads of decent motors for 3k if you're not into anything too flasy. A decent spec focus is a good drive.
Digsy
Is that your Zed I've seen down at Asda? Very brave. If I were spending under 3k it would have to be a jap car for me.
Stu R
Is that your Zed I've seen down at Asda? ir_fuel
Dunno if its the same in your country, but in Europe it is becoming quite hard to get a cheap car which is reliable (and by cheap i mean £3K or less) because they all get bought for export. tmJak
Nissan 300ZX with twin turbo and iro 400bhp We're about to upgrade the second car from a Vauxhall to a Volvo. . .wish the missus had more imagination and then I'd buy the 300ZX
AndySpak
If I was buying a second car for under £3K and keeping my Zed, I wouldn;t bother getting something too flash. OK leather seats and aircon are nice but If its just a city runabout then I'd stay well clear of Clio Williams (aren't they about 15 years old now?) or other things like that as they will just cost you loads to keep on the road. I think Gixxer has had the best suggestion with a Golf TDi. When you want to have a proper blast, take the Zed out, otherwise I'd keep it simple and keep it cheap. Stu R
Nissan 300ZX with twin turbo and iro 400bhp I would be all over that 300ZX although having a twin turbo 400bhp second car for shopping and running around is a bit much! I like the look of this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-ALFA-ROMEO-1 ... dZViewItem ...damn Alfa's and their reliability though!
