SiriusProjects
Hi All, Today I noticed that the recaro cover on my drivers seat had come away on the side. The edge of the cover has a rubber seal on it and this has come away from where ever it was held in. Has anyone else had that happen and if so, is it an easy thing to fix? If not, where can I get a new seat from? Thanks. The image attached is one I found on the net. Just wanted to illustrate the area where the cover has come away. nissanjuke
are these not under warranty, check it out first

So unfortunately it's 5 months too late to make a warranty claim. I had thought about maybe taking it to car seat upholstery specialist, but was thinking it might be quicker and easier just to buy a whole new seat. Any help or advise would be appreciated. Nso93
There’s a thread on the seat wear on the mk2 nismo. https://www.350z-uk.com/topic/119895-poor-quality-leather-on-nismo-recaro-seats/

Whilst my driver seat is showing a bit of wear, the main issue I have is that the seat cover has actually come away on the side. It's no longer covered by the warranty, so unless it can be repaired, I think I'm going to have to get a whole new seat. Any idea how much a new one would be? Think second hand the recaros in juke nismo go for around £4K for set. But you can get the recaro cs seats from around £1k online new. But that’s without the nismo branding
nissanjuke
a new seat would cost about £1000.00, you could get a partial retrim for that for both seats on the same section, full leather retrim on both my seats on my 350z cost £750, so i would take it to get retrimmed and maybe change the colour of the leather red or white!!!!! antnee
Has the material come away from the rubber edging? If not, you can just put it back in by hand. the material folds over on the rubber then pushes into a slot of the hard plastic of the seat. Should take about 2 mins to sort. SiriusProjects
I've tried to push the car seat cover back into the slot and it is okay for a while, but the problem is that when I get in an out of the car, I rub against the side of it and doing so pulls the cover back out. Just out of interest I phoned my local Nissan Dealer to get a price for just the back part of the car seat. It's a bloody good job I was sitting down because the guy I spoke to quoted £5300.00. That did include VAT, but there is no way I can justify that sort of money on a replacement back for the seat. I'd rather go out and buy some aftermarket seats. While writing this I have also phoned a specialist car seat upholsterer in my area and they said they could fix the seat for me for a small charge. So I am going to take my car over to them on Tuesday and see what they can do.
antnee
You may need to use a flat blade (ideally plastic to avoid marking the material) to fully push the rubber into the slot. Work all the way along the seat too. I had the same Recaros in a Clio and the sides would pop out every now and then.
Silverthorn
My girlfriend had a recaro seat out of her Clio 197 F1 repaired as it split in the exact same position as you mentioned. The guy matched the material perfectly, repaired the seat and returned it back within 24 hours! Spotless job and only cost £200... Far cheaper than a new seat! EDIT: just noticed you were talking about the edge with the rubber coming away from the seat rather than the stitching separating... If the rubber has just came away then it can be tucked back in by hand as people have already said Edited October 2, 2018 by Silverthorn
SiriusProjects
I have tried to tucking the rubber back in, but it just keeps coming out again. I visited a local car seat upholsterer this morning and they are going to sort it out for me. Got to take my zed in next week.
antnee
I also had the bolster wear through, I took the cover off myself and a local place charged me £70 to sew in a new panel.

SiriusProjects
I don't want to get a new cover, mine is being repaired. Was just curious if it is possible to get one.
antnee
You should be able to just get the cover - will be a lot of £££ through Nissan though.
