mattross1313
A few years ago I (miraculously) got sign off from the now Wife, to create an engine coffee table for the lounge. With help from a number of local people, this all got wrapped up quite quickly and the end result is below. Still looks as good now as it did a few years ago! I've been hankering after a side table for a while, and have generally been on the look out for a F1 wheel. Picked one up off a forum member and have been putting this together quietly for a few months (got married in the middle so was pre-occupied somewhat!). I finished up the side table last night so thought I'd share some pics. The wheel was race used when I purchased it, so has some associated marks and scratched to the face, also the outer drum was pretty rough. My paint guy sorted this out with a full re-spray in bright silver, inside and out. Once painted I also touched in the embossed text with red paint around the top face of the wheel - just to add some colour. I sourced a suitably sized piece of toughened glass for the top, fitted some LEDS on the inner face (because why not!). The final touch were some custom made decals to match the period sponsors of the car - which is a 2002-2004 Toyota F1 car. So bonus JDM cool points to boot! Have you not considered it ?. I did consider it when making the engine, but there is a lot of work involved by other folks (getting the block polished, painted etc), and all takes time. However I do still think of making a couple more up. I am also toying with selling the engine table in the lounge, and leaving the new F1 table up in the man cave.
