I am certainly not replying to this topic to upset people as I'm still a Newbie and the little experience of the members advice on here have been nothing short of brilliant.

All those instances, the ebay one or the previous sale of your old car i believe are in a similar league, Im not trying to create a totalitisic approach to this forum nor do I want to say no to free speach and all that jazz, but just remember how upset you are getting when you saw your pictures being used in manor in which you did not approve of. The guy selling on ebay is trying to sell an item, if you dont want it dont buy it, or if you have a criticism of the decription take it offline with the seller not a public forum.

Eg: I will put my car up (ironing board and all) to gain your opinions and critiscisms as i value these. Other owners/sellers people may not. I would not put my mates up and say look at this Sh!tter as its not fair on them.

This rant maybe because I have had a bad day at work but i couldnt believe it when i read the thread

The "ridicule" of overpriced or under-performing products is part and parcel of internet forums and has no doubt on many occasions stopped a member or potential member from making an expensive mistake. If someone puts Nismo alloys on Ebay with a buy it now price of £3000 I would take pleasure in bringing such misplaced optimism (being kind) or blatant profiteering (being unkind) to the attention of those reading this forum.

That is quite different from posting up a someone's car just to take the p1ss out of it.

On this occasion Jay has probably got a rather too personal given his previous involvement with the car but in his earlier threads the effect is the same. Something is worth what someone wants to pay for it but they are entitled to make an informed decision and Jay's knowledge of this car - including what he paid for it and sold it for - is invaluable information for any potential buyer, be they member or non-member.

PS These are my personal views being expressed and not necessarily those of the team. :)

+1 thats the big difference with this and other optomistically priced items - its personal ! and imo should not be aired on an open forum

i'm sure this is just an oversight by jay as he is normally a very fair guy

if the guy can get £50k ...so what, i believe that jay thinks he got a very good price for it when he sold it

its worth whatever you can get for it.... bottom line

the thread is not really in keeping with what is generally a very friendly place and may be viewed by newer members as a reflection of the forum

I think a ban on posting links to other peoples cars is stupid. There must be at least one thread a day on here that is a link to someones overly modded Porsche or chavved up zed. I think it highlights the cars to avoid. Nearly all of the comments are in jest and not meant to offend. I can't think of one person that has come on here and been upset with the comments about their car.

Forums are about sharing information. There maybe newbies on here considering to buy Jays old car. After reading this thread they may realise that its wildly overpriced. Providing that information to new members is invaluable in my opinion. :)

"I know on other owner club forums it is strictly forbidden to post up other peoples car strictly to bad mouth, which I personally believe is a damn good rule."

i think you may have interpreted that wrong, that is hardly the same as calling for a ban on posting links to other peoples cars

only when the link is used to bad mouth the car and i assume he means other members cars and not some guy in america who has stuck a pair of goal posts on the boot and a nismo tattoo

if it is the latter i'll get my coat :teeth:

The next sentence you 'forgot' to quote is: 'it was really a plea to the moderators' e.g to remove the thread etc

I agree about if the car is in america, and as far as I know there has never been a public flaming of another members car, i think thats what makes the site sooooo great, but there has even been a thread today with regard to a non member uk car:

The point is that I don't think there is anyone on here that would attack another members car, this site is better than that. Zedrush is only on here because a load of OC members slated his car but I stepped in and defended him and his car and inadvertently pointed him in the direction of this site. :D Not sure now if that was a good thing

That decision must be difficult to live with :surrender:
