leebottrill
I currently have the HKS Super hybrid filters in my car. My question is how often do they need replacing? My mechanic said they don't need doing every year. I think I've had them in for two years now and they are looking a bit grubby. Does this matter or should i replace them? Whats the usual life of a none paper filter?
Ekona
I’d replace annually personally, just like I would with any OEM filter. If they’re dirty they’re dirty, so bin them and get a fresh set in. Bearing in mind what they do, one that isn’t functioning is either robbing you of power or letting crap into your engine, neither of which is really wanted
MattRwebB
Don’t you just buy a cleaning kit? I have k&n ones in my HR and I just clean Ben with the k&n cleaning kit and then re oil them .
MattRwebB
I don’t clean Ben .. I clean them **** lol
Ekona
Risk with re-oiling (if indeed they are an oiled filter, don’t do that with a dry one!) is that you can accidentally over-oil and then wreck your MAF/s, which then gets significantly more expensive. A filter is a consumable after all, that’s why I treat them as such.
ZMANALEX
Clean them out gently with an air line every 12 months and replace every other year
