Silverthorn
@davey_83 It's an 'Aircup' system rather than a conventional air ride system so I still drive the car at this height. The cups can only lift the car at speeds below 10mph so is only useful to get over a bump or something like that before returning to its usual height. Function-wise, it shares more similarities with the 'nose lift' on supercars than a conventional air ride system. It's the perfect balance between having a car stupidly low while having a little bit of practicality. Obviously I still have to drive just as careful as I did previously as the second I get to normal road speeds I'm stuck at my ridiculously low ride height it's just helpful getting to car shows and on my drive as even the bridge over the track at Silverstone was pretty awful last year, let alone what it'd be like now! Driftworks made a video about the cups which can be found here. But yes the tyres on the front have been flipped. They lasted a fair while considering the alignment is done by eye. Once the world is back to normal I plan on taking it to get the toe all sorted. Such a shame I've got it all clean now though as I'm desperate to just go somewhere on a drive and take some photos Edited March 28, 2020 by Silverthorn

davey_83
Looks unreal, saw this last year at C&M and totally don't know how you managed it up the entry ramp lol
Silverthorn
@davey_83 I'm quite suprised as well to be honest I can't say it was as easy getting through the gravel car park to the exit afterwards though
Silverthorn
Needed to replace my UCA bushes after all the welding on the arms so figured I'd give the whole front suspension a bit of a refresh. UCAs have been sprayed in a neon pink and 4 new bushes pressed in. The knuckles have been sprayed in a matt black with glitter lacquer over the top. New ABS Sensors as well as all the bracketry being painted has made the whole lot look alot tidier. Swapped from the 50mm spacers down to 40mm so that I could reduce the camber a touch and gain some clearance between the knuckle and my coilover/aircups. Just needs an alignment now and it's good to go

After doing this all I can think of doing is taking it all back off and painting the lower control arms, subframe and everything on the rear Im convinced that if I had the space to leave my car in pieces for long periods of time it'd never drive again. I'd just spend my entire time restoring every single bolt on the car
Silverthorn
Photos, photos & a few more photos... Here's one of the car fully lifted on the aircups in case anyone was considering a set. They definitely make the car look absolutely hideous but they do allow me to park on my own drive Edited May 8, 2020 by Silverthorn

Silverthorn
@davey_83 Cheers mate! Finally satisfied with the ride height and overall aesthetic of the car now. Time to fill my boots with the more boring stuff. Really want to just replace absolutely every bush, ball joint, brace over the whole car and paint the rear knuckles, arms etc. Even when there's no 'mods' to do I still need something to keep me occupied
parello9
You could do a boot build for your air ride i joke! Looks mega!!

Silverthorn
Needed somewhere to finally mount the switches for the Aircups and YAW Sensor so removed the now redundant heated seat panel and switches and quickly modelled a replacement. Had a friend from work 3D print it for me and installed it just a moment ago. Works a treat and mounts using the original mounting screws so win win! The holes are 16mm diameter so perfect for most cheap 2 way switches and the included switch from the Stanceparts Aircups. If anyone wants the .ipt file so they can print their own then feel free to send me a PM on here and i will ping you an email with the file attached. Oh, I also bought another set of wheels watch this space... Edited June 13, 2020 by Silverthorn

Silverthorn
@Humpy Cheers mate! It's finally starting to look how I envisaged it a few years ago. Fingers crossed the wheels will be the final piece to the puzzle. Edited June 15, 2020 by Silverthorn

Silverthorn
@Ogman Thanks mate! Such a shame shows won't be happening this year. I was seriously looking forward to them this time round seeing as the car is now in a decent shape I'll just have to make sure I attend absolutely everything in 2021. Ogman
Yeah I know mate, like you said just have to make up for it next year! Hopefully we may see an increase in local meets once some further normality is restored!
Silverthorn
A couple of photos after finally getting another alignment on the car. It's so nice to have a car that drives in a straight line once again! ETA on the new wheels is approx. 3-4 weeks. Watch this space
