John Hannon
Hi all, its not a Z, but its not far off!! Ive driven Mercedes convertibles for years as weekend/fun cars, however I now find, as I'm getting a bit older, that they arn't that comfortable and their reliability isnt everything its cracked up to be. So I started the hunt for a new car, key on the list were; comfort, reliability, decent bit of grunt, dealer/specialist support in the area. The G37 ticks all these boxes, its very comfortable....the front seats would be at home in a luxury saloon car, its not a sports car imho, its more a long distance tourer, with the Nissan 370Z underpinnings It's going to be reliable, fingers crossed, and Infiniti is a brand known to us, the Mrs has run an Infiniti Q30 for 14 months, cracking car and the dealership in Leeds are super. I found a 2011 Premium Convertible, one owner, full supplying dealer history, impeccable MOT history with 50,000 on the clock and I'm delighted with it. Its got more kit on it than I'll ever use, the Bose sound system is superb and the speakers built into each side of the headrest are a brilliant idea. The engine sounds glorious and has a serious amount of grunt, on a run mpg in the very high 20's is possible. Being a convertible there are creaks and groans from the roof when its up, but an application of Gummi Pflege gets rid of most of these. With the roof up you've got a decent boot, a weekly shop at the supermarket fits in easily, put the roof down and you'll struggle to get four of Mr Warburtons finest sliced white in there!! I havn't sat in the back seat, I might not get out, but when the roof is down a couple of suitcases, jackets and bags will fit on there with no problem.....when the windbreak is fitted they are also out of sight from prying eyes. One great feature is that the whole instrument binnacle moves up and down with the steering wheel as you adjust the height to suit you, the wheel also mover in and out for reach, all done electronically from one knob. The cooled seats are brilliant, no sweaty backs!!

John Hannon
Cheers guys, thanks for the warm welcome. Great forum with some very informative posts, good to read about Atkins in Malton, sounds like a great place for servicing. Off for a blast up the coast now, up to Scarborough and then across to Helmsley for a spot of lunch ;-) John

John Hannon
Great drive this afternoon, flipped her into “sport mode” and used the gear shift paddles, what a Jekyll and Hyde car!! Once that engine gets past about 4000 rpm it flies round to the redline.....I now know why you guys love your 350’s and 370’s......I’m liking the G37 more each day

Whitevanman
welcome mate, glad to hear your enjoying the car, I spoke to you over on the g37.com site, I only ever drive mine in sport mode now the car is far more responsive, I don't always use the paddles though unless I'm out on country roads, great colour as well
John Hannon
Hello mate, I’m not normally a paddle fan, but seeing as they’re so gorgeously crafted I thought it’d be rude not to use them!! The traction control light flashed a few times.

John Hannon
Thanks, took a ride up to Pickering this morning and then took one of my favourite roads across The North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby, the car drove like a dream, it’s in a different league to the SLK’s I’ve driven for the last 16 years. Ive yet to see a 350 or 370 to see if they acknowledge my wave

AMT
Very nice! Had the coupe and convertible both from Infiniti as courtesy cars when they were still selling it. Effectively, a posher Z but still quick as hell and the added bonus of some paddles! Nice spec too with the blue and silver wheels!
