longsh07
Fitted a set of SGS engineering boot struts last weekend and just noticed today that the boot lid, at the hinged end, is now sitting proud. I've also spotted that the struts themselves have come into contact with the underside of the boot lid... Anyone else had this problem or have I just got unlucky... HEADPHONES
This shows the correct fitting Yours is upside down. You're not the first to do this and I'm sure you'll see this errorade by other new members in future. longsh07
Ah bugger really? I just mirrored how my others were fitted (I think)!

RavenDW
So I wasn't the only one. What's annoying is that fitting them the wrong way caused the boot to pop quite nicely and would clear the catch by a good margin. Now they're the right way I get issues with it not popping properly (yes I've done the penny trick). Oh well.
longsh07
I know right, same here... looks like I'll be getting some new boot poppers soon...
MDMetal
Makes a nice noise as you drive along whooshing away! I did it as well all bends back fine so don't worry. I also swore my original brackets were this way round too!
richard.hezlett
Try putting a couple of standard replacement rubber tap washers (1/2 inch I think ) into each popper. Worked a treat for me.
MDMetal
Already had 3 in each one which makes it stronger than a new spring so it's not that, maybe my hinges just need some oil
cs2000
Remove the weight on the inside of the boot lid plastic trim too. Even with brand new poppers an SGS struts, mine still wouldnt pop on a cold morning until i removed the weight.
MDMetal
Yah the weight is out, still doesn't spring I think it's the hinges need oiling, it creaks now heh
Daisyduke
Mine wouldn't pop. Put 2 tap washers in each spring and works every time now. Penny trick is not a good method
Erni902
Evidently, I fitted mine correct the first time with no issues. Cue fitting them for a friend....put them on the wrong way hahaha. Luckily noticed before I popped the ball joints in so just swapped them over dead quick. My boot would also not pop removed the boot weight and fitted tap washers, fitted the SGS boom 1 finger boot pop.......Fitted Nismo V2 spoiler....back to square one lmao. Got some more tap washers somewhere so will bang another couple in.
