omegacloud
Can anyone help me identify this engine whine coming from the front left of my car near the tyre. I am assuming it is a belt of some sort but has anyone experienced this before? https://youtu.be/FnX7XTfvHDU
mr v6
Sounds like pulley / alternator whine to me, possibly power steering. Have you checked it with the bonnet open to narrow it down better?
omegacloud
I will post a video of the sound with the bonnet up in a bit. This was just outside of work today.
omegacloud
Right. I am back with my completely lay person questions. Please be kind This video shows the "chuddering" sound that I reguarly have. Is this normal This video shows the "whining" sound on top of the "chuddering". It comes on at different times and I have not been able to determine what causes the "whining". Thanks for any help
omegacloud
Just a follow up in case anyone gets similar noises. The chugging noise was fixed with an oil change. 4.7l of fully synthetic oil cost £50. The whining noise was caused by a worn auxiliary belt. I have had it changed for around £100. omegacloud
Thanks. As a complete novice with car maintenance, it was good fun getting to know her. Hopefully this post can help somebody else out. I purchased 5L of KAST 5w30 Fully Synthetic. Just under £50 for the 5 litres and OEM filter.
