Looks mega!! Do you remove the gauge after set up or leave it for show as I use too? After a while of being fitted it'll soon go out of calibration as they are meant to be fitted, used for set up then removed.

I'm gonna leave it in for now at least

That must have been lot of work to try and sort the welds, but those rails look so much better than the others. Glad you got them to fit

Now, where is the obligatory vid for us ?!  :p

No video yet I'm afraid I'm having some major idling and balancing issues and have had to strip a lot of it back down to sort it out

I have been progressing with this project sadly I'm currently waiting for parts, a spring specifically you'd think I could just pop up the road and get one but no. well I have got quite specific requirements anyway while waiting there was an issue with the end throttle bodies where the throttle position sensor would go the problem being my sensors are in the throttle servo so I needed to cap and seal this shaft i think the Jenvey items come with plastic caps and mine obviously come with nothing  so this is my solution

I have also tweaked the vacuum lines from the throttle bodies as I was getting too much pulsing so I now have four lines coming from the bodies to the manifold the signal is much more stable now, the Evaporative emisions  line is also connected and I have tapped one of the velocity stacks so it will be drawn in between the air filter and the butterfly I've run it in a clear petrol line for now as it's the only hose I had in that size but will change it later.

I've also sorted out the PCV system the rockers are now vented to a catch can and again goes to a port tapped into another velocity stack sadly again in clear plastic for now as I've run out of black

Ok enough for now as I need to go and order some plastic pipe cause that clear stuff looks like crap

people seem to run throttle bodies either without filters or with sock type filters which look like crap I think this looks better and no before someone asks they aren't the screws I'll be using

Looking good. Isn't it an idea to make a kind of intake box so hot air won't be entering the itb's? Saw this somewhere and thought this would really help the heatsoke problem. Just an idea

yea I have a few things in mind for that but it will wait until I get it running properly

Ok I've been a bit quiet for a while as i've been having a few issues, the return springs needed to close the throttles properly to ensure stable idle are just too strong for the modified 350z actuator so far I've burnt out 2 of them and have no intention to do a 3rd so I'm going over to a cable setup it means I lose the cruise control but I don't use it anyway also I have to fit an idle air valve to control the idle for cold start, aircon and power steering load etc

finding a route for the cable is being a pain but I think I have it sorted now I hope to have it running again this weekend.

Just had a catch up - looking good, a quick thought - is it not possible to gear the actuator down to increase torque or would that result in to little travel?

Keep up the good work mate

this is the conversion to throttle cable instead of drive by wire

I welded a short piece of 1/4" bar to the accelerator pedal for the cable I was going to go almost straight on the end of the arm but this would come out behind the brake servo

IMG_20180524_170359.jpg.35b3a40c01777ed719f170663d7f7494.jpg

as you can see it's pretty close to the servo and really hard to drill as it's on a sloping bulkhead and generally inaccessible from inside or out

yes I know I used a rusty old screw for fixing it but it's all I had at the time I will change it later

and there you go just waiting for my idle air valve and I can start it up

I can't believe they sell a kit that requires this much work to get to work!

However your the right man for the job and has made this an interesting read along with your other projects

yea I don't think it's right this is copied straight off the ebay listing

  • Precision casted and machined/ Direct bolt-on kit*

and in case you were wondering the asterisk relates to this

*Foot note: The straight air horns will not fit under the OEM hood.  Modification to the is needed. Some assemblies will be required.  The operating wheel will need to be taped and tread to desired position.

I wasn't actually expecting the direct bolt on bit but the precision cast and machined bit would have been nice

Any updates yet? Can't wait to hear the beast growl again.

Sorry not really any updates I'm still tuning and coming across little things I hadn't thought about that require me starting to tune again from scratch and little niggling problems like having to fit an idle air valve since going over to cable throttle, of which I'm on my third (air valve) but it's getting closer all the time so I will hopefully have something for you soon
