Up Rated Boot Lid Struts

Just fitted mine at the weekend. Went for the Nismo spoiler version despite not having a Nismo spoiler. Added bonus, the boot pops itself open properly now! No more double pressing.

You'd probably be best of buying direct from SGS though surely? Doubt these come up very often...

I sent mine in to SGS to be regassed last year, just had none on it for a week or so. When you do that you realise how obscenely heavy the bootlid is!

Seem the same now as when they were first done, pops straight open, doesn't eat me anymore

I bought some and wasn't happy they failed to open the boot properly. I paid to then have them uprated and they're still just passable and that's without the counterweight and boot trim :( not sure what I did wrong!

If it's the initial boot release that's not opening/lifting enough to clear the latch then this is because of the springs in your boot poppers loosing their strength. I fitted rubber tap washers to cure the problem.  The boot poppers control the initial 3-4 inch movement to clear the latch. Then the struts assist you to lift the boot lid fully open from there.

By the way, if you get these make sure you fit the bracket that bolts to the body the right way up

It sounds so simple but I managed to forget which way they went in the couple of minutes it took to swap it over.

Correct fitting:

I've recently brought a pair of boot struts direct from SGS (nismo spoiler version).

They hold the boot open okay and no more double pressing to open, however the boot is still very heavy to lift.

The boot will only stay open if I've lifted it over 3/4 of the way up (requires 2 hands to sensibly lift).

However this may be due to my aftermarket spoiler being heavy?

Compared to the oem struts they are 100% better.
