Engine cuts out on cold start up (unless I blip the throttle)

Hi guys, I've had a look through the forums but can't find anyone with quite the same problem that I'm having.

It started a few months back quite randomly.

When I turn the engine over it starts fine but the idle drops to zero straight away and the engine cuts out. If I do the same thing but slightly blip the throttle after the engine starts then it will idle roughly for a couple of seconds but then hold normal and stay fine after that.

This only occurs when the engine is completely cold, if it's even slightly warm it will start up fine first time, no throttle needed.

I haven't tried any fixes yet; just been living with it for the past few months. Had a new battery recently and the issue hasn't changed.

Anyone have any ideas where to start to try and diagnose the cause of this?

Thanks in advance.

Probably worth checking the state of the throttle body and butterfly valve. I had a similar (ish) issue once which went away after cleaning that up.

If you are going to do this disconnect the battery or all the plugs on the throttle body before moving the butterfly!

Worth a shot and might be a cheap and easy fix.
