martinmac
Just found this on youtube. Pretty well explains why tugs are needed and why it is better to have them made fast and not left standing http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rh1qIHlCdPU Wouldnt like to be the crew on the poor ship alongside. This one (from the related stories) made me laugh: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zoU1HczQJQM&NR=1 Had that happen to me when driving a small tug in Barrow. A heavy lift ship lost all power, the pilot aslked me to come in and push. In the meantime the Captain decided to drop anchor. Its a shame, they were a good pair of jeans too
Stew
Cool. I was on a jack up rig in the north sea when it was hit by a supply boat. Twice! It's not nice! The boat was opened up like a tin of beans down the side! Cool video. Those tugs looked like they could shift! What speed they do?
martinmac
About 13 kts unless its a salvage, then its a bit faster
Stew
Not too bad then. I bet you can get the crew rowing too to get to a salvage!
