arif_manji
Hi guys, I'm garaging my 350z HR for over winter, i just wanted to ask the best way to preserve the battery? Would it be ok to disconnect the battery terminals or would I encounter issues after (i.e. airbag light etc?). Any advise will be appreciated, Thanks
Jack94
Disconnecting a 12V battery shouldn't ever cause any issues, the only inconvenience is that it'll reset things like your clock, rev warning light, radio presets etc. My advice would be to leave the battery connected and put a trickle charger on it every couple of weeks or so to keep it topped up. Even if your garage is heated, if you just disconnect it for months then chances are it'll be completely flat next time you try to use it, all batteries self-discharge eventually. Willsy1980
Left mine sat for 3 weeks and battery was buggered, probably on its way out before the break. I'd just buy one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-Exide-Premium-72Ah-720CCA-12v-Type-096-Car-Battery-4-Year-Warranty-EA722/191981783629?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 and upgrade when you are ready to use again. HEADPHONES
Every couple months I top up 2 of our cars that my wife uses infrequently with this..... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DW6RHN2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512419632&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=aa+car+battery+charger&dpPl=1&dpID=51etw-dJujL&ref=plSrch Never left on indefinitely in maintenance mode. More hook it up for a day and let it top up to max then return and unhook it when the indicator shows its in trickle mode. Even charged up the zed when it was totally flat after forgetting to switch off the interior lights for a week! Cheap and cheerful bit still good after 2 yrs of regular use. Dal B
I had to replace my battery last weekend. I usually only use my 370z at the weekends (very rarely during the week, especially in winter) gave it a good drive the Sunday before last and sounded very weak whilst cranking. I left it for 4 days and went to use it Friday for it's MOT and it was dead, presuming the winter weather had killed it off.
arif_manji
Thanks for all the advise guys - I've kept the battery disconnected until the new ordered trickle charger arrives. The battery was replaced last year by Nissan under warranty. Yesterday (After 1 month) I connected the battery up to see if it had lost much charged and it started up - it was a weak start but did fire fine.
