1CE
So I finally got my hands on a Z! I was split between one and a focus rs mk1 about 6 years ago and now I have the chance to experience both! So I got this (SM06 WEW) for just over £6500 with 66k on the clock all the way from Bedford, a 2006 plate GT in Gunmetal Grey. Body work seems very good for it's age! Apart from being covered in tree sap which is a work in progress! Upon getting home I was greeted with a cabin full of smoke and oil pouring out of her! Failed gaskets that had been previously botched! £300 later all good! The car has the clicky rear axle, whiny wheel bearings, corroded alloys and now an annoying knock front the front which sounds like warn out bushes. So yes I have quite a project on my hands lol... The car is 90% standard...for now.. . It does have a scorpion mid section and back box due to the original failing and a kenwood touchscreen stereo. Anyway a few pictures! Firstly a decent wash! Nothing but DodoJuice products ! First mod being a shorty Arial! Plans... Refurb the alloys or change. Nismo body kit - these seem to be rare as hens teeth! Are there any decent replicas? Suspension refurb/Overhaul. ARK Grip exhaust. Berk decats. That's all for now . Ben. Edited March 26, 2018 by 1CE
coldel
Welcome along! I think with that many 6s in the car you were doomed For your parts list, have a look through the traders on here, Tarmac, Torqen, Cougar Store, Horsham Dev, Abbey etc can all source you parts/fitting at competitive prices.
1CE
Decided to make use of my GoPro and mount it to the Z . The results are pretty impressive! Here's a time lapse video, I would embed it but i'm doing something wrong haha... https://youtu.be/7LGTM5ud-6o Edited November 22, 2017 by 1CE
1CE
Ok so I found out why my rear washer jet wasn't working... The pump has completely burnt out!! No I ordered a new one, intending to swap the working old front with the rear and using the new one for the front, only to realise the spade connectors are in a different orientation..Fail! 1CE
Your welcome, None what so ever, use a credit card to pop the interior map light out. You can also change the sidelights by putting the wheels on full lock and popping the arch liner back.
Fervidia
This is the first Z build where I've seen someone mount the cat on top of the dash, but I don't see the rest of the exhaust system in the pics??? Haha! On a more serious note, as much as I'd love (or loathe) telling you to "get that sharp-clawed creature away from that easily scratched interior", you've got one hell of a cute wrench buddy! If only my cats were still around, and relaxed enough to chill in a Z! Updating the lighting looks very smart and modern, I'll definitely look into doing this myself after picking up my Z in the next couple of weeks.
1CE
Haha he's a little legend. Every car I've owned and worked on, he's always been at my side. He just loves getting involved . The lighting upgrade is a must in my opinion. Small price but has a big impact! I haven't really done much to the Z lately, not even cleaned it! It's had a new battery as the cold snap wiped it out. Took the top of my finger off too getting it to fit. Just look how snug it is . I've also got a set of whiteline front and rear arb links to fit . Treated myself to a Das 6 Pro dual action polisher to perfect the paintwork! Should suit my OCD perfectly haha... Watch this space... 1CE
Bit of a boring update but this one was and is bar far the cheapest! I have finally fixed my boot opening problem and it only cost 2p ! My boot now opens first time thanks to a penny in each spring! Now the evenings are lighter I can actually start working on it!
1CE
Finally getting my hands dirty! Its such an easy engine to work on! Bang for buck mod! Motordyne plenum spacer went on today . Nice stealth mod. I may have also got this to go on . Just a little excited haha.. NISMOOOOOOOOO! Edited April 8, 2018 by 1CE
reeceybeaney
Nice to see some mods coming together! How did you find fitting the plenum spacer? Good choice in spoiler too
1CE
Cheers dude! It wasn't actually too bad to fit, I was being very over cautious not to break anything . Strut bar off, Had to remove the air intake and MAF, remove the 3 vacuum pipes running into the inlet then it's engine cover off, 16 bolts removed from the inlet itself from memory. They key thing is not to over torque the plenum bolts when refitting. Are you considering getting one yourself? That spoiler is like trying to find hens teeth! And for it to come up in gunmetal grey too !

Will look spot on I have a plenum spacer sitting in the garage at the moment, Just need to machine up some spacers as didn't get these when I managed to get the spacer second hand! Any more performance mods in the pipe line at all?
1CE
Did you manage to get your spacer fitted? Mine seems to have really brought the engine alive! I drive it daily too . I'd love a full titanium exhuast system but I'm a little undecicive right now. Few cosmetic mods to be done first .
1CE
Couldn't resist! After a good cleaning session I fitted this... Tarmac Sportz/Mines style front lip .
1CE
Nothing too new here. She's just sailed through a MOT and had a full service so that's me happy for another 6 months! Today I modded the airbox with Flyboy's VS . Nice easy mod to help with the airflow intake! I have a few niggles to sort this year but nothing urgent! I guess I should start saving for forced induction To Do: -Refurbish front wipers -Replace entire exhaust system. -Replace ARB droplinks. -Replace ARB's. -Upgrade to braided SS brake lines. -Replace slave cylinder and clutch line. -Replace crappy tyres. -Replace gearknob. -Fix clicky axle. -Flush gearbox and diff oils. -Fit Nismo V1 spoiler (Gather dust) If I can get that done this year i'll be happy . 1CE
Tell you what that velocity stack mod makes such a difference! That and new plugs . I'm torn between 2 exhaust setups, either Full Injen Dual or a Tomei titanium. 2 very different exhaust systems!
1CE
Not too much to update here.. Decided to give the engine bay a cleanup in preparation of some changes. So i can clean up the hubs and get the spacers on at the same time .
