Colin747
I'm planning to get the cavity of my rear arches waxoiled but was wondering is there anywhere else that would be worth doing at the same time? (the underside has already been done)
leonk
Possibly the front wings behind the plastic wheel arch especially where the wing meets the bumper. Obviously make sure it's all clean first.
Willsy1980
May as well do the lot, inside the boot cavity and doors.
Dicky
The front edge of the bonnet under the rubber sealing strip is prone to rusting. I have smeared Vaseline on mine for some years now and it's still ok but wax oil would be better
Colin747
Is there a guide anywhere on how you could apply wax oil to the rear arch cavity yourself?
Dicky
Not aware of any guide. I had a bit of rust on my rear wheel arches and had it cut out. The guy that did the work flooded the arches with wax oil during th work. The only way I could imagine it being possible would be to drill a hole on the inside of the boot to allow access to the wheel arches and spray the wax oil in then plug up the hole. Colin747
The only reason I ask is when I was getting work done at a bodyshop they seemed to be under the impression that if you strip the boot out there would be some sort of access there which you could spray the waxoil through, but looking at this photo of a stripped boot I can't figure out if there actually is. Willsy1980
If you remove the rear light clusters and fire a load in through the holes circled, it 'should' run down quite a bit. But you will need to dump loads in and just hope for the best.
Colin747
Many thanks for your help! Do the rear lights need removed or do you just need access to those rectangle holes circled? Edited August 22, 2017 by Colin747
Willsy1980
Id pop them out, there are a few additional holes you can attack from. I'd probably just remove the lights to start, there are some holes the locating pegs go in, remove the little bungs and fire it in there. These are not 100% for getting waxoil down all the way, but better than randomly drilling holes everywhere. That could lead to more issues than what you are trying to prevent if im honest.
Colin747
That's great, many thanks for your help. The can I have at least has a long 8" nozzle on the end so hopefully that'll be of some help.
Willsy1980
No worries, just any hole you can find near by, if the nozzle will fit, shove it in and spray is the best approach. Same for the car and waxoil
