Rear Clicking Constant Noise When Driving

I noticed tonight that when driving at lower speeds (circa. < 30 mph) there seems to be a constant clicking noise coming from the rear. I've looked a videos of the normal rear axle clicking problem and it doesn't seem to be it - it seems to be a once off click when moving off?

It seems to be constant spacing between each click regardless of the speed, maybe 2 per second, any ideas?

Drive shaft CV/UJ has worn the noise is the bearing (a larger steel ball with a hole through it) sliding up and down it's bar, this is usually not a problem as up down motion does not affect the bearing, if the noise bugs you then the simple fix is to remove the CV boot and re-grease inside - all this actually does is stop the "ball" sliding quickly up and down and clicking.

Hope that helps :)

Note - seems people get this more after lowering - probably just because of the slight angle change - in case that is relevant.

Thanks, so as long as I can live with the noise it won't cause any problems? (It's not lowered in my case)

Basically yes, if it is the bearing that is clicking (and not a stone or something hitting the dust shield) then the click is not problem, like anything they wear and that is the very early stages but they will last for many miles after the clicking starts :)

That's great thanks, now for the "how long is a piece of string" question....How many miles would many miles be?

Hey, just a suggestion, check that your boot gas struts brackets are the right way up. I had a metallic click noise which was caused by the boot piston hitting the metal of the boot.

Super easy fix, turn the bracket over the right way.

Good luck
