Jackrichards1
Hi all, I've got 8.5j front and 9.5j rear I'm looking to run 225/40/18 front but what would be a nice size tyre for the rear?? Thanks in advance!!
KyleR
245/40/18 will match the front, but will be a bit too stretched IMO. 245/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear would be a better match.
Jackrichards1
Any reason why? Or purely for traction/grip? Also any recommendations in tyre makes?? Edited April 17, 2017 by Jackrichards1
BobbyZ
It depends partly on your priorities, but having the right width of tyre for the rim will give you the best performance, as that's what the tyre's designed for. Having a stretched set up is only really good if you want to go for that look. You also need to make sure you don't deviate too far from stock in terms of rolling radius so that you don't have TC problems. Around 255 width would be about right for a 9.5' rim. Regarding brands, MPSS are the standard recommendation around here, but there are lots of other tyres that people here have been happy with. Jackrichards1
Thanks for the reply, Well I'd rather go for a low profile than stretch looking at a few pictures online of the 245/40 and 265/40 I Like the look of that anyone else have this set up and have a opinion on what they think?? StevoD
245/40/18 is fine I run it I would be surprised if anyone noticed it had stretch
KyleR
I take back the "too stretched" part, they won't be too stretched, I was talking rubbish. But I stick by my 245 front 265 rear suggestion, aesthetically and performance wise they'll be better.
shaun350z
My setup is 9.5J at the front and 10.5j at the rear (so just 1" wider than yours) tyres sizes are 255/40/18 and 275/40/18, I know its not exactly the same but should give you an idea?
