ZedAndy
Hi All, Apologies if this has been asked before, I tried doing a search but nothing came up- Recently ordered this and will receive it later in the week - but I've just been reading about potential steering wheel control incompatibility issues. Does anyone happen to have this head unit in their zed? (https://www.caraudio...100_p-40099.htm) Also, does anyone have experience with the Connects2 CTKNS08? (https://www.caraudio...s08_p-35986.htm) Cheers! Edited April 16, 2017 by ZedAndy
colesl4w
Mine just arrived today! Fitting next week. This won't be helpful to you though as I never use the steering controls either way.

Colin747
How did your fitting go? He's waiting on an adapter that was needed to fit it
colesl4w
As Colin has kindly updated you.. it needs an adaptor to fit. I'll get the car around Tuesday or so. I've had a play with the head unit and it seems very high quality. It gets great reviews all around. I'm sure you'll be very happy.
ZedAndy
I ended up sending mine back in favour of the kenwood DMX-7017DAB as it has a few more features, so I can't be of any help, but I still think the sony xav looks the best (the ui doesn't look like it was designed 20 years ago unlike all the other HUs, plus the screen is far more crisp and bright), @spike4real I think you'll definitely enjoy it. Good luck guys Edited April 28, 2017 by ZedAndy
spike4real
Thanks for the update guys. ZedAndy - What features are included in the Kenwood you went for? I noticed DAB, that would have been pretty cool.
spike4real
Fitted!! Looks ace, will post photos during the bank holiday.
ZedAndy
I mainly got it for the DAB, but also built in sat nav in case my phone has no charge and i need nav one day (my Z didnt come with the satnav option) Edited April 29, 2017 by ZedAndy
colesl4w
I had seen the Kenwood but preferred the form factor of the Sony. Note that you can get all your DAB through android auto. Glad you're both happy with your head units!
ZedAndy
I agree coles, the Sony looks so much better. You're right about android auto and DAB too, but it does use phone data when you do that
spike4real
Yeah I see what you mean about the data usage. I'll have to use the work phone hehe
spike4real
Hi guys, here is a quick photo of the finished install. Excuse the messy car
spike4real
Oh and i used this kit on my facelift model with bose. It comes with extra stuff in case you want to install a single din unit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370764695997?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
colesl4w
Hi guys, here is a quick photo of the finished install. Excuse the messy car Looks fantastic! Are you enjoying it? Will have mine installed very soon .
spike4real
Absolutely loving it! Good luck with your install. Screw the stock mounting brackets on the side of the headunit, don't waste time looking at the plastic parts that come with the kit, they are not needed. Attach the kits front fascia onto the headunit before putting the centre console back together, the gear surround will push it all together at the end. ZedAndy
Good stuff, that looks really smart. Are you using the steering wheel controls with it?
spike4real
I tested the steering controls earlier...volume up and down works fine but only one of the next\prev track buttons work, can't remember which one. Update - previous track button works, next track button doesn't. Edited May 11, 2017 by spike4real
Stutopia
Got this HU in the BRZ, I really like it, much better interface than my old Pioneer unit.
ZedAndy
Returning to this thread to offer a warning: don't buy the Connects2 CTKNS08. It's stated to work with a 350z on both caraudiocentre (www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ctkns08_p-35986.htm) and their own website, but the connections aren't even remotely the same! The only real way of doing this is not to be lazy like I was and to do the method described here: http://www.350z-uk.c...links-to-parts/ as well as busters guide for the low volume fix: http://www.350z-uk.c...lume-fix-guide/ (but here you will find that the connection he says you have to buy is incorrect, the one you actually need is http://www.halfords....harness-adaptor After a month of returning cables and faffing around I finally have mine installed (kenwood dmx7017dabs) Edited May 28, 2017 by ZedAndy
craigmdennis
Reviving the thread as I've just bought and fitted the Sony XAV-AX100 into my 2005 Zed and I have a question about the fitment and facia. Perhaps I have it misaligned but there seems to be more space at the bottom than at the top. The facia that came with the head unit doesn't fit (due to the spacing issue) and the 350Z Double DIN facia adapter that I bought just in case won't allow the head unit through (seems to be a little small). I'll try and post some images tomorrow but wondered if anyone who has fitted one could offer some advice. Did anyone run into similar issues?
