AdrianL
Hi, So my clutch has started to slip, but it's a good opportunity to upgrade it. I've heard it's also worth doing the flywheel at the same time. I'm looking for a nice balance - I want the car to be comfortable on the road, but I do use it for some occasional track use too, so I'd like something that is good for both. A single mass, light flywheel seems appealing but if it's quite noisy this will be offputting. What clutch / flywheel combination is recommended? Thanks in advance, Adrian
Toon Chris
For road go for the setup in my tag. It only rattles a little at low revs and other than that is good quality and does the job very well It depends how much track you do I suppose but something for the track may not be ideal for gentler road use, which means it might be a bit rougher in 'normal' use?

AdrianL
Which is the 900kg one and is that appropriate for 300bhp? Are they both SMF?
Ewen@Clark Motorsport
This is our most popular kit for the DE Adrian, many happy owners on this forum. Adrian@TORQEN
Which is the 900kg one and is that appropriate for 300bhp? Are they both SMF? Yes, both SMF. 900kg is fine for 300bhp. 1200kg clamping force - https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/powertrain/combo-packs/1895-350z-de-jwt-clutch-and-flywheel-combo-l3503-ncf-ktp-0x.html 900kg clamping force - https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/powertrain/combo-packs/664-350z-de-jim-wolf-technology-jwt-clutch-flywheel-kit-nodular-iron-26lb-flywheel-l3503-ncfsd.html Edited April 12, 2017 by Adrian@TORQEN
davey_83
Why does the SMF result in extra noise at idle and low rpm, over the more complex DMF?
Tarmac@TarmacSportz
Stock kits here if you want it like it came out the factory http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/114962-350z-de-oem-replacement-clutchfly-ancillaries-packages-565/ Or The next best option is Xtreme as Ewen says https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/nissan-350z-03-06-vq35de-xtreme-clutch-kits.html I currently have a 350z with JWT and its gash getting it into 2nd, don't know why as it was fitted on the car when I got it but it hadn't done many miles
Ewen@Clark Motorsport
Why does the SMF result in extra noise at idle and low rpm, over the more complex DMF? The dual mass flywheel is designed to dampen the extra noise so removing that is why you do get an increase. The Xtreme kits flywheel is optimised for weight to try and minimise this noise. The overall benefits far outweigh the noise
mr v6
Previous owner of my Z had this stage 1 kit & SMF conversion from Clark Motorsport early last year, I'm assuming it's the same flywheel as in Ewan' post? The pedal is never going to be super light, it's firm, but a comfortable firm. Can feel a little grabby at times & will never be as silky smooth as a DMF & standard clutch. Carbon.Ninja
I recently opted for the ORC 409 Metal Series clutch for mine. Comes with flywheel and the throw out bearing. Didn't have enough time so I didn't opt for the quiet special order option. They are all damped and high Mu disc for 350z.
