I need a visible "cat" for MOT. 😉 When my readiness is complete, I don't need to test exhaust gasses. So gonna get a new MOT before we install the new engine. Then make some sort of catalyst for the MOT of next year.
davey_83
Your best bet is the Motordyne XYZ pipe with interchangeable cat or something similar. Edited March 6, 2023 by davey_83

Something like that. I believe they are producing something similar at Torqen. But that's something for next year. Hahah.

There will be 2 options, straight pipe and HFCs (probably 400-600cell to make sure it passes MOT).
rodgeevans
I have been thinking of trying to fit the 370 engine in my 350 recently so can't wait to see how you get on.
Adrian@TORQEN
Way too complex, just enjoy the car as it is for a while, buy a 370z later
rodgeevans
I have had it nearly 15 years lol, I honestly prefer the 350. Will prob go FI but it was something I was considering investigating in the future so will follow this thread with interest Edited March 7, 2023 by rodgeevans

From what I gather you don't need to fit a 370z engine, the short block will suffice Edited March 8, 2023 by davey_83

I had a few slip-on exhausts before. It just didn't work. I always ended up getting it welded by a friend of mine. Haha. My new engine consists of a VQ37 short block with VQ35HR heads. So it's not entirely a VQ37. We are going to start building this thing in the next months. Still got a few things to do... - headers need ceramic coating - check heads (porting?) - maybe ported intake plenums and bigger TB's. But not sure yet. - want to paint some parts from the new engine Everything else is in house and ready for the build.
Hansburger
Last week I changed the exhaust (again ). Looks really great and really good fitment! As you can see it's slightly bigger then the Injen. Heheh. Also to say the ISR 370Z Y-pipe is pretty big. It's a bit bigger then the 350Z one; 2.75 inch compared to 2.5 inch for the 350Z. Now just have to find the time to make a video with the new exhaust. It makes way more noise then the Injen and I think it will make a bit more in a few months. davey_83
I bet that is loud!! You did well as I always thought the Z34 y pipe was a tad longer than the Z33 offering. Right underneath you bum where you use to have a massive silencer, it's now a full merge!! Edited March 16, 2023 by davey_83

The Z34 Y-pipe will fit fine on a Z33. The other way around can be a problem with automatic 370Z's I believe. Yeah it's quite a bit louder. Hahah. And yet it still needs to burn a little bit. I think it's gonna be a bit louder over time. 🙃
Hansburger
I accidentally cycled passed the wheel shop and hell yeah. After my wheels lying their dead for almost one and a half year he started working on my wheels again. Can't wait for the result of my refurbished 3-piece wheels. 😎
Hansburger
Engine is back home. Going to tidy it up a bit and sort some other things. Maybe it's necessary to get the intake manifolds ported, to get them matched with the ported heads. Then let's start building this sucker.

Hansburger
It's been a while. 😅 But the Z got some extra love as always. Got all the parts together for my diff. It was already rebuild with the shorter 4.08 ratio. Now I've got a Kaaz 1.5 sper at the shelf and some other rubbers from Whiteline combined with a Nismo diff cover. Should make a great combo. My V-belt decided to leave me for the second time in 5 years. 🤪 Always a pain in the ass to remove all the debry from the engine bay. Even had to bring it to a specialist to get the AC pully cleaned and they serviced the complete AC as well. Now its all working great again. The other thing was I had a few issues with my Intrax coilovers. I removed them from the car and brought them to Intrax for a overhaul. It seemed a stone had damaged one of the pistons and there was a issues with the height adjustment on one of the coils. Got them back and also bought some new OEM bolts. It drives like a dream again. 🤗 In the meantime I had a little accident. Someone said he didn't see my car and drove right into the rear bumper. A new bumper was needed. Glad it's fixed and everything OK again. I bought myself a folding bike for whenever I'm at the track. It fits right in the back of my Z. Hahah. Aaaaaaand finally got my wheels back after 2.5 years... 😍 The three-piece Oxigin wheels are refurbished and the inner side matches its colour with the spokes. Also lowered the Z and extra 1.5 centimetres for the looks.

Hansburger
Finally I had some time to pick up the goodies at the motor shop. 🤗 Engine is cleaned, intake plenums are port matched to the ported heads and I got some Cerakote for my long tube headers. It looks like we can start the assembly of the VQ37HR. 🥰 Then engine shop was surprised how much material he could remove from both the lower as the plastic upper plenum. Only problem is I want bigger throttle bodies as well now. 😝 Also got some issues with a wheel bearing last year during a trackday at Circuit Meppen in Germany. I dissided to get rid of the 350Z ones and got myself 370Z axles and wheel bearings. If you compare them you can't believe it actually fits. Both axles are a bit longer then the 350Z ones. But it just bolts right up on the stock 350Z diff flanges. But we had fun! As long as it lasted. Hahah. Difference in length. 370Z bearing compared with 350Z bearing (not my photo) Everything works well and no issues so far.
