Guest Posted January 21, 2017 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Hi all =) Have a knocking from both front corners when going over uneven surfaces at lower speeds. I've read that this may or may not be the front ARB drop links, but a cursory drive in the passenger seat had a mechanic saying it probably was. I've ordered replacement parts and intend to attempt fitting myself. I wondered if the knocking was most likely this or something else? Aside from the drop links and nuts, what do I need tools and accessories wise? I have pretty much zero experience under a car but am trying to learn ^_^ I have a trolley jack, axle stands, wheel chocks. I intend to go buy some ratchet spanners in a little while. Jay84 Posted January 21, 2017 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Release oil/spray might help, if the bolts have never been moved thay can a pain to do. Ive seen the lads have to grind them off some really troublesome ones (it was an ancient saab). The problem is theyre pretty exposed to the elements. Are the droplinks the most likely source of the knocking? Jay84 Posted January 22, 2017 Share Posted January 22, 2017 I'd say they're most likely the source (not that I've heard them personally lol), yeah wd40 should be fine. You'll struggle to get a torque wrench under the arch, but I'd always advise torquing the wheels to Manu spec. While you're under is always a good excuse to have a poke round checking for play in track rods, leaking shocks etc, thickness of brake pads inner and outer. Did change the Drop Links when purchased my new Eibach Arbs from Torqen.
