Rob T
Does anyone know this car? I'm really interested, but not sure whether to go and see it because it only has a couple of weeks MOT left. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162363205108
Strudul
Good price for an HR and those seats looked fantastic.
Strudul
Check MOT history here. This doesn't sound good, but not sure how it passed the 2nd time: Edited January 18, 2017 by Strudul
Rob T
Oh wow, that sounds terrible... That would be just before the current owner took it.
Rob T
Maybe why he's desperate to sell it before the MOT next month.
14N
Good price for an HR and those seats looked fantastic. It's a 2006 DE not a HR (So possible a RevUp, but doubtful as it doesn't have the facelift interior).
Bandit
Ouch..Always check the MOT history and check the car's history as well, could save you a lot of grief.
Jetpilot
Sounds like a w brace to me, hardly a game changer, quite a few threads about rusty ones one here
Rob T
It all seems a bit weird. I asked him what mods it had. He said it had the seats, exhaust, wheels and nothing else. But, you can clearly see it's got a different bonnet, de-badged and tints. I think I'll give it a miss, especially after that MOT info. Cheers Strudul! 14N
Was thinking the same. It's common for a W brace on a car that age to at least be covered in surface corrosion. Looks like it passed the MOT without covering any miles, so be interested to know what they did to resolve it (had a word with the jobsworth MOT tester maybe) Looks like it's had a few quid spent on it with the HR bonnet, wheels, zorst and seats. See what paperwork comes with it - hopefully it would be a nice folder full. Owner probably doesnt even realise the bonnet has been changed
Strudul
Ah, didn't look that closely, just saw the HR bonnet. Probably still worth enquiring further, and you can check the corrosion for yourself - hard to say what it really is and they might've got it sorted. Adrian@TORQEN
Sounds like a W brace to me, too. Why not ask the current owner directly?
G1en
I remember this car being for sale when i bought mine a year ago. Sure it was up for around 2k more than this and the ex owner had listed loads he had done and money spent, no expense for servicing etc... IIRC also it was a rev up but with lower tax band (one of the few sold in the 2 weeks before tax changed) So i would guess the mot failure was the W brace like has been said which is no issue. Certainly worth a look imo if your interested.
JetSet
It's not a revup, The dials and positioning of the hazard warning switch are the giveaway. Pete
Rob T
I've asked the questions, I'll see what he comes back with 👠
RobPhoboS
Like the others have said, it's probably the W brace, easy and cheap enough to replace - it is literally just a brace under the car, not structural at all. I'd go and have a look, take photo's of the under side of it. That's where is it if you aren't familiar They end up looking like this if you don't coat it in something:
Rob T
Seller doesn't know anything about previous MOTs or whether it's a RevUp. I was really after a facelift version, so I might give this one a miss. Cheers for the advice
