Rob350
Im going to do a few trackdays next year has anyone used a k1 or k2 in the sound testing at trackdays and what dbs are they?
Exec
I don't track my zed, but I have a k1 and can tell you without baffles it will fail, in fact it will make your ears bleed. With baffles it may scrape through, probably still fail on pass-bys
Rob350
I bought my car with a k1 on with no baffles, so i know what you mean lol im going to buy an Oem but thought a k2 might pass though so could get a k2 instead, iv read people say k1 with baffles its 103 db but I don't know how accurate they were with the reading, Just wanted to see if anyone else has used a k2 on trackdays otherwise it's Oem
Science_GT
Yes I have my friend. Castle Combe. Funny story actually... Was behind a Vauxhall Manaro and it failed the test at 104db so by this point I was saying to my gf "**** sake it's obv going to fail" but low and behold it came in at 100db!! Bang on the limit. If you look me up on Instagram science_lippett I have a vid of me flooring it coming out of quarry. Sounded amazing! It was WITHOUT baffles I know a lot of people slate it but the sound is awesome when on track but it can be hard to live with especially when you start work at 6am.,, Edited December 4, 2016 by Science_GT
Rob350
And that's the k1 you were using? I take it you diddnt get done with the drive by sound test either? do you have to go to top revs when they test you? Or just like 4500 ? Science_GT
No had no problems. Was in the static sound test area at 4500rpm if it was at 3500 I believe it would fail. Seems to be less droney at higher revs.
