addisj
Hi all, I don't know anything about starter motors, but recently the 2005 DE seems to be struggling slightly when starting her. I turn the key, there is a usual starter motor noise, then a pause and then it starts. Always starts OK, its just the pause and its getting longer. Feels like its struggling. Any advice? Thanks. addisj
How olds the battery? It was the one I got with the car so at least 5 years old. Its showing as full charge on the dial in the car.
ZEUS
I'd still get the battery tested to see how healthy it is and also to rule it out as the problem.
brillomaster
replace the battery. its old, winter is coming, for the sake of £70 you really should. its almost certainly the battery. KyleR
Get it tested rather than possibly wasting £70-£100, no point if it's in good condition and will last a few more years yet.

May order a battery tester. It will come in handy with my old focus daily commuter too. I always thought the dash battery gauge was enough to go by until now. ZEUS
Just pop to a garage and get it tested. I think even Halfords do a free battery health check.

The problem is when the battery is on it's last legs it can play silly buggers with the electrical system and the gauge being electrical, it may be susceptible too.
